DutiesThe Senior AV Technician is a member of the Georgetown University Capitol Campus Audiovisual and Instructional technology groups. This position oversees the technical operation and maintenance of all audiovisual systems supported by the academic departments on the Capitol Campus. This includes classrooms, event spaces and conference rooms in addition to other supported spaces during the evening shift. The incumbent also oversees the exploration, research, purchase, inventory, installation and integration of equipment and services in supported facilities. Reporting to the Director of Audio Visual Event Services and engaging with senior administrators, staff, faculty, students and vendors, additional duties include but are not limited to:
  • Oversee the daily operation and oversight of multimedia and audiovisual equipment in Capitol Campus classrooms, conference rooms, event spaces and mock trial spaces, investigating and troubleshooting issues and delegating duties to AV staff.
  • Provide conferencing support for faculty and staff as it pertains to their classes, monitoring, responding, resolving, and closing help desk tickets on a daily basis.
  • Attend planning meetings with multiple departments for upcoming events, identifying all resource requirements to ensure that client needs are met and that events are staffed and operated correctly.
  • Perform routine and complex maintenance on all equipment and software related to classroom, event, and conferencing operations.
  • Research new technologies and develop solutions to current and foreseen AV issues, recommending purchases of new equipment and/or software and keeping current inventory of all AV equipment and software licenses.
  • Work with various audiovisual vendor partners to initiate and complete department projects and scheduled repairs.
Requirements And Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree, or seven years of audiovisual experience, preferably in an educational, conference center, and/or hotel environment
  • Ability to multitask, often working under stress to complete tasks that require complex set-up and operation
  • Professional understanding of the following AV technologies: Digital switchers, digital audiovisual systems and computer interfaces, video capturing software, Zoom and other video conferencing systems, digital video and audio editing software, light boards, cloud storage such as Google Apps and Box; generally Mac and PC proficient
  • Understanding of networked audiovisual systems
  • Proficiency in Google productivity tools, including Gmail, Google Docs, and Google Drive
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office365 productivity tools, including PowerPoint, Word, and Excel
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Proficiency in room control systems, including Crestron and Extron systems
  • Maintain an excellent level of customer service with faculty, staff, students, and guests
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and working from ladders and scaffolding
  • Willing to accept flexible hours and overtime
This position work hours are Monday through Friday from 7:30 am-3:30 pm but must remain flexible throughout the week based on staffing needs. Physical requirements for the job: Daily requirements to move items up to 10lbs of weight. Frequently required to move up to 50lbs of weight and walk or stand with operation of controls. Occasionally tasked with moving items weighing up to 100lbs.Work Mode DesignationThis position has been designated as On-Campus. Pay RangeThe projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:
$47,586.00 - $87,558.13
Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
