Position Title: Supervisor, Safety & Security

Department: Safety & Security – 4020

Division: Facilities

Classification: Non-Exempt

Direct Report: Sr. Manager, Safety and Security

Position Summary:

The Supervisor of Safety and Security shall be responsible for the implementation of the security departments policies and procedures and will assist the Manager in all operational needs of the department. Duties include but are not limited to supervising department personnel in daily operations, completing routine inspections of the exterior and interior of the facility, and provide training support when needed. EVENING SHIFT (2:30PM - 11:30PM)

Responsibilities:

  1. Make personnel assignments and supervise security personnel assigned to their section and shift.
  2. Complete performance evaluations for assigned security personnel.
  3. Aid in the development of operational policies and procedures.
  4. Provide training support.
  5. Perform safety inspections.
  6. Approve written incident reports and departmental documents.
  7. Ensure compliance with Department policies.
  8. Work and interface with contractors, event companies, and other Georgia Aquarium departments.
  9. Participates in management training and development classes.
  10. Coaches and recognizes staff for their contributions.
  11. Assists in the development of goals and objectives for the Aquarium.
  12. To perform other duties as workload necessitates.

Qualifications:

  1. High School diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  2. Minimum of two years supervisory experience in a security related position required.
  3. Proven excellent customer service experience required.
  4. Ability to manage multiple priorities/tasks.
  5. Must be able to manage sensitive, confidential, and stressful situations in a professional manner.
  6. Ability to communicate (written and verbal) effectively in various settings.
  7. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  8.  Successful completion of designated supervisory training course(s).
  9. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products.
