Georgia Department Community Health is Hiring an Accountant 4 Near Atlanta, GA

DCH is currently seeking one (1) Accountant 4 position for the MMIS/Federal Reporting section of the Office of Financial Services. This is a hybrid position that requires in-office and remote work with the approval of your supervisor. Your days of frequency in the office can change at any time during your employment based on the business needs of the organization.

Job Responsibilities

Under limited supervision performs and/or oversees the development, implementation, and monitoring of accounting activity. Analyzes financial information and programs, makes recommendations to management, and prepares a full range of financial reports, including specialized or non-specialized reports. May also serve in a lead role.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for preparing the quarterly CMS21 report of the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) benefit and admin expenses, the MCHIP and receipt sections of the CMS64 federal report,
  • Reviews federal share benefit variances each month and prepare necessary correcting entries,
  • Reviews admin project code variances and works with the Budget Unit to correct,
  • Meets regularly with Accounts Payable, Revenue, Budget, and Benefits Recovery staff to ensure effectiveness and efficient posting of transactions,
  • Prepares various manual journal vouchers,
  • Prepares interagency invoices,
  • Tracks Child Intervention School Services (CISS) payables and receivables,
  • Reconciles drug rebates,
  • Reconciles weekly Cashbook,
  • Prepares hospital contact manual expenditure forms,
  • Tracks 90/10 MITA projects,
  • Utilizes PeopleSoft Financial Systems and Georgia Medicaid Management Information System (GAMMIS) to gather data necessary to perform financial reporting,
  • Prepares Accounting Transaction Requests (ATR) for various transactions,
  • Reconciles various general ledger accounts and fund sources,
  • Assist with the annual state audit, as needed,
  • Assist with special projects, as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in accounting and three (3) years of professional accounting job-related experience; or Two (2) years of experience at the lower level Accountant 3 (FIP022) or equivalent position.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to candidates, who in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications listed below possess the following: Previous work in governmental accounting or working with federal grants. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel (including pivot tables), Teams, and basic knowledge of Microsoft Access.
