Georgia state government is Hiring a District Effectiveness Specialist Near Tifton, GA

Job Summary

The Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE)- Office of School and District Improvement are recruiting for an experienced District Effectiveness Specialist. Under the direction of the Program Manager and in collaboration with the Office of School and District Improvement and other Georgia Department of Education team members, this position will provide onsite school and district improvement services and support to identified districts. The job responsibilities include, but not limited to:

Description of Duties

  • Guide district leaders in developing and sustaining a leadership team that is focused on continuous improvement in order to increase student achievement
  • Guide district leaders and district level staff with the development of structures and processes that support standards-based, job-embedded, results-driven professional learning
  • Guide district leaders in creating and sustaining a culture of data-driven decision making
  • Guide district leadership in creating district strategic plans with measurable goals
  • Guide district leadership and school leaders to implement the school and district standards
  • Facilitate district leadership in development, implementation, and continuous monitoring of a formalized system of data-driven intervention(s)
  • Guide district leaders to support schools in sustaining the school improvement process
  • Guide district leaders in the development of action plans
  • Perform other such duties as assigned by the Program Manager

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess one or more of the following:

  • Five or more years of experience in a position of K-12 central office leadership
  • Experience successfully coaching both new and experienced leaders
  • Located within 50 miles of Tifton
  • Georgia Professional Standards Commission certificate in educational leadership at level L-5, L-6, or L-7
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Education Specialist or higher degree
  • Experience at working with district level professional staff with a focus on instruction and/or leadership
  • Strong knowledge base of best practices in leadership and standards-based instruction
  • Demonstrated success in team building
  • Experience in data analysis and the organization and implementation of major school initiatives
  • Experience working with adult learners
  • Strong work ethic, self-directed, and self-motivated
  • Knowledge of state and federal guidelines, including the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA)

***Regional and Statewide travel is required***

High school diploma/GED and seven (7) years of program management experience; or two (2) years of experience required at the lower level Education Prgm Spec 3 (EDP032) or position equivalent.
