Georgia state government is Hiring a Student - Affairs Specialist, Career Services Near Lawrenceville, GA

This job is a full time, benefited, FLSA non-exempt position in the Career Services Department that reports to the Director, Career Services. This position is located on the Larenceville campus with occasional travel to the Alpharetta North-Fulton Campus as necessary

 

Salary: not to exceed the budgeted amount of $44,000 per year.

 

Minimum Qualifications (Job Code 11127)Associate’s degree and One (1) year of work-related experience

Note: Experience may substitute for the degree on year-to-year basis

 

Preferred Qualifications:

In addition to the minimum qualifications, prior experience working with/for Career Services and/or Launch Pointe and using the CareerLink platform powered by Symplicity are highly sought after. The following skills are also important excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills; the ability to work effectively and collaboratively with internal and external constituents (students, faculty, staff, agency personnel); the candidate should possess exceptional customer service skills; strong organizational and record keeping skills; ability to manage multiple tasks and successfully meet deadlines.

 

Job Description Summary:

Under the leadership of the Director of Career Services, provides career advisement and support services to potential and current Gwinnett Technical College students.Assists with the coordination of special events on campus. Displays a professional image and provides professional-level administrative support which requires independent judgment and initiative. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

Percentage of Time:

Provides direct student support regarding internships and employment activities.

·Career counseling and major selection assistance including interest and strength inventories,

·Providing support related to internship/job searches such as resume review, cover letter assistance, mock interviews, and career planning

·Refer students to appropriate academic or student affairs resources based on student needs, interests, and concerns

·Performs other duties as assigned

Provides support to the Career Services Department.

·Manage aspects of the CareerLink platform including updating employer information, employment, and internship opportunities

·Assist in data collection and management related to student placement in internships and full-time employment

·Support hiring events and workshops planned by the Career Services Department

·Maintain knowledge of current trends and best practices

·Assists with the coordination of special events on campus.For example PROBE fair, information sessions, high school tours, and other recruitment events
