Project/Unit DescriptionThe Air National Guard Program Division (ANGPD) is predominantly focused on delivering combat capability to the Air National Guard through sponsor-focused systems upgrades, testing, and training programs. ANGPD provides sponsors programmatic and technological solutions in a variety of areas including program management, system engineering, operations, acquisitions, test & evaluation (T&E), tactics, training, and research.
Job PurposeThe Systems Engineer oversees and coordinates the work of technical teams on systems projects, ensuring the successful design, implementation, operation, and technical management of those projects. Taking a holistic approach to systems engineering, the Systems Engineer ensures that all aspects of a system project are considered and addressed. The Systems Engineer works closely with stakeholders to understand their needs and then develops and documents technical requirements that meet those needs. The Systems Engineer leads the design team in developing a system architecture that meets all of the requirements. After the system is designed, the Systems Engineer oversees the implementation of the system, working with the implementation team to ensure that it meets all of the requirements. Once the system is deployed, the Systems Engineer manages the technical aspects of the system, including monitoring performance, troubleshooting problems, and making improvements.
Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct top-down functional analysis and translate requirements into detailed performance design criteria
  • Design and build templates to assist Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) in providing critical system information
  • Conduct product or system design synthesis translating requirements into physical architectures for systems of low complexity to include defining and refining internal and external interfaces
  • Contribute to and develop technical reports and diagrams detailing product or system attributes
Additional Responsibilities
  • Lead technical aircraft system integration projects for our sponsor
  • Coordinate fabrication of mechanical and cable assemblies at local and at commercial vendors to support aircraft modification and integration
  • Implement open architecture and instrumentation hardware into Guard and Reserve Aircraft
  • Coordinate with System Program Offices to design and implement aircraft modifications
  • Plan, provision, execute, analyze, and report on a variety of test programs from bench level to on-aircraft open-air range testing
  • Support sponsor programmatic reviews, planning meetings, concept development efforts, and technical interchange meetings
  • Execute trade studies to evaluate different open architecture designs, algorithms and applications and address their effect on system functions and capabilities
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Required Minimum Qualifications
  • Experience with modifying Department of Defense or commercial aircraft
  • Experience with hardware development and integration
  • Experience with aircraft cabling and mechanical design
  • Experience with aircraft drawings
  • Experience with one or more of the following: flight test planning, design of experiments, - Electronic Warfare (EW), radar, avionics, and missions systems testing
  • Familiarity with flight test telemetry, flight test data, and post-flight test data analysis
Preferred Qualifications
  • Active Secret Clearance
  • Experience designing to military standard hardware, connector, and cable specifications
  • SolidWorks expertise
  • Experience in one or more of the following: Test and Evaluation of aerospace systems, sensor integration, signal processing, Aviation communications, electro-eptical/infra-red (EO/IR) sensors and/or radio frequency (RF) systems
  • Experience with one or more of the following: flight test planning, design of experiments, - Electronic Warfare, radar, avionics, and missions systems testing
