Job DescriptionGTRI's Applied Systems Laboratory (ASL) conducts applied research, development, test, and evaluation of ground-based air and missile defense and rotary-wing aviation systems. The Applied Systems Laboratory (ASL) is currently seeking Interns to work in Huntsville, AL. The selected candidate will create visual solutions/outcomes for research, technical data, and complex procedures using a wide range of graphic software, HTML/CSS, and other interactive technologies to support a variety of defense programs
This position is a research intern role in the Capability Centric Architecture Branch (CCAB) within the Applied Systems Laboratory (ASL) at our facility in Huntsville, AL.
Required Minimum QualificationsIntern
  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Human Systems Engineering, Human Factors, Computer Science, or related fields.
  • 3.0 or higher cumulative GPA
  • Full-Time Intern- Must be registered for Full-time Internship Credit
  • Part-Time Intern– Must be registered for 6 credit hours
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of or experience in computer graphics
  • Knowledge of or experience in user interface design, human factors design, etc.
  • Ability to create 3D models from 2D photos, CAD, and other documents in package like Autodesk 3D Studio Max or Maya
  • Willing to learn 3D creation package Remo3D and work with OpenFlight and glTF formatted model
  • Work with images as textures like liveries on vehicles using tools such as Adobe Photoshop, GiMP, or similar
  • Create visual images for use in presentations like PowerPoint, large format posters, and/or printouts
  • Integrate content assets in modeling and simulation programs
  • Ability to clearly communicate and understand technical ideas
