Job DescriptionAs a visiting research student supporting GTRI’s Applied System Laboratory your roles and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Provide desktop IT support as a computer support representative (CSR)
  • Maintain hardware and software for client/server infrastructure
  • Author scripts for patching and hardening compliance
  • Conduct manual and automated security reviews to remediate findings
  • Support events in conference rooms requiring CSR assistance
Required Minimum QualificationsStudent Assistant/Research Assistant
  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer/Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or Cybersecurity
  • Must be a sophomore or junior
  • Must be registered for at least 6 credit hours with your university
  • 2.0 or higher cumulative GPA
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to work within a team environment
  • Flexibility and ability to deal with ambiguity
  • A great attitude and desire for learning new techniques or skills
  • Experience in 1 or more scripting languages
  • Previous work experience providing IT support
  • Familiarity with macOS, Linux, and open-source tools
  • Holds technical certifications (Security , CEH, CISSP, RHCSA, etc)
  • Experience in 1 or more programming languages
  • Task/team leadership experience
  • Strong math skills and ability to learn complex engineering concepts
  • Familiarity with Linux and open-source tools
  • Configuration management tools
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical ideas

U.S. Persons RequirementsDue to our research contracts with the US federal government, candidates for this position are required to be US Persons.
Clearance Type RequiredCandidates must be able to obtain and maintain an active security clearance.
