GEOTEK is Hiring a Sr. Mechanical Designer Near Stewartville, MN
Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepares concepts for high performance pultruded fiberglass structural products, for overhead electrical power lines (GEOTEK PUPI® Products) and fiberglass poles GEOTEK Alliance Products).
- Prepares 3D models, parts, and assemblies and maintains the CAD library
- Prepares drawings with GD&T per ANSI Y14.5
- Sets-up and maintains BOMs and other data in the ERP system
- Maintains and executes the revision control system (configuration management)
- Performs tolerance stack-up analysis
- Supports the new product development process by preparing quote packages, procuring prototypes, supporting production, and other duties as assigned
- Technical school, 2yr/4yr degree (technical field preferred) or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 7-10 years of professional experience as a Mechanical Designer in a manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with common materials, coatings, and manufacturing processes, such as steels, aluminum, sheet metal, plastics, machining, welding, painting, metal forming, casting, heat treating, etc.
- Proficiency in 3D SolidWorks modeling of parts, assemblies, and drawings with GD&T per ANSI Y14.5; Formal GD&T training desirable
- Certified SolidWorks Associate (CSWA); Certified SolidWorks Professional (CSWP) highly desired.
- Experience with Tolerance Stack-up Analysis
- Proven experience with setting up parts in ERP system, and preparing BOMs
- Time should be split between the floor and the office or meeting rooms ranging anywhere from 25% to 75% on the production floor or engineering labs.
- While working on the floor there will be work with and around moving machinery, fumes and chemicals.
