CMA:
* Experience in a medical office setting.
* Must understand, courteous and professional at all times in contacts with patients, visitors, employees, and medical staff.
* Assist Doctor with patients.
* Demonstrate knowledge in a medical office.
* Anticipate doctor's needs for each patient based upon patient complaints and treatment plan/guidelines.
* Verify that patient results, x-rays, labs and procedure reports are in patient charts prior to seeing doctor.
* Gather patient's vitals and complaints, document in patient medical record.
* Chart accurately and legibly to include lab results.
* Facilitate physician and patient communications.
* Complete lab requisition forms and assure that specimens are sent to correct labs per patient insurance contract.
* Maintain and monitor exam room and procedure room supplies and instruments.
* Clean and sterilize instruments in accordance to OSHA Regulations. Clean autoclave as required.
* Complete clinical portions of chart preparation.
* Schedule surgery and give patient appropriate instructions prior to surgery and refer to Front Office Coordinator or Office Manager for insurance authorization.
* Provide backup surgery scheduling.
LPN:
* Performs patient care responsibilities considering needs specific to the standard of care for patients age.
* Demonstrates ability under direct supervision of an RN, to perform a head-to-toe assessment on all patients and reassessments as per policy. This includes pediatric, geriatric and general patient population.
* Ability to adequately assess and reassess pain. Utilizes appropriate pain management techniques. Educates the patient and family regarding pain management.
* Demonstrates knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on age of the patient and patient's clinical condition.
* Follows the five medication rights and reduces the potential for medication errors.
* Demonstrates ability to revise plan of care as indicated by the patient's response to treatment and evaluate overall plan daily for effectiveness.
* Formulates a teaching plan based on identified patient learning needs and evaluates effectiveness of learning; family is included in teaching as appropriate.
* Demonstrates an ability to assist physicians with procedures and performs services requiring technical and manual skills under the direction of an RN.
* Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity. Identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic and religious/spiritual needs of patients and their families
* Interacts professionally with patient/family and involves patient/family in the formation of the plan of care.
RN:
* Promotes positive public relations for the department and the hospital by presenting self in a professional manner; assisting in community service programs, as requested.
* Ability to problem solve patient/family issues to a positive conclusion for all involved.
* Demonstrates communication skills necessary to interact with persons of varying age and/or cultures. Displays a positive attitude at all times.
* Develops and maintains good relationships with co-workers, other department staff and physicians No disruptions.
* Practices 5 rights of medication administration.
* Demonstrates efficient time management skills to maximize productivity.
* Demonstrates and encourages teamwork.
* Asks for assistance and information from others when necessary.
