Role Summary:

The Education Partnership Specialist is responsible for projecting a favorable image of the credit union to its education partners and encourage positive growth of the credit union through the development and cultivation of new education-based partnerships in Gesa’s markets. They will assist the Education Team in the growth of the credit union’s High School Credit Union, Affinity Debit Card, Scholarship, and other education-based programs and partnerships. This role will coordinate internal and external activities for the credit union, based on partnership contracts and manage the relationship of key corporate credit union partners. This role will understand industry trends and use data to evaluate and assist with strategies to increase awareness of credit union products and services through credit union corporate partnerships.

What You Will Be Doing:

  1. Develop and maintain positive relationships with education-based and Affinity Debit Card sponsorships and partners, leveraging relationships to provide business lead referrals for retail sales, investment services, mortgage lending, commercial services, and commercial lending. Education Partnership Specialist is generally responsible for leading ownership of two major partner programs or a minimum of 10 minor partners, based on complexity and demand.
  2. Identify education sponsorship opportunities, evaluate impact, and make recommendations and or presentations to Financial Education Manager and AVP of Community Relations, Sponsorships and Education.
  3. Develop and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders to effectively support and execute Community Relations initiatives and campaigns with the goal of providing business lead referrals for retail sales, investment services, mortgage lending, commercial services, and commercial lending.
  4. With supervision coordinate the creation, planning, implementation, and production of partnership events within established guidelines, including project timelines, tracking, vendor relationships, budgets, event logistics, and volunteer management.
  5. Develop comprehensive Marketing plans and provide recommendations to the annual Community Relations calendar with approval of the Financial Education Manager and AVP of Community Relations, Sponsorships and Education with the goal of increasing participation and awareness of Community Relations programs, Affinity Debit Cards, general credit union products and services, and lead referrals.
  6. Oversee with supervision Affinity Debit Card sponsorship and other educational partnership events and campaigns to ensure they are within scope, schedule, and budget. Produce and maintain reporting and statistics to reflect partnership effectiveness and report to Financial Education Manager, AVP of Community Relations, Sponsorships and Education, and/or internal stakeholders or external partners.
  7. Support Financial Education Manager and Education Specialists with coordination of Gesa’s Scholarship Program with creation of internal/external marketing promotional content and awareness delivery methods, actively promoting application submission period, review and organize submitted applications, support Scholarship Committee Selection process, and scholarship funds distribution process.
  8. With approval, communicate Gesa’s Community Outreach programs to partners, groups, school officials, the community, and credit union staff with the goal of expanding the credit union’s presence in the community.
  9. Promote the credit union difference as a not-for-profit financial cooperative in all work with the community and internally with credit union team members. Assist with the growth, planning, and development of actionable plans for expanding the credit union’s outreach into identified markets.
  10. Track and measure the ROI of Community Relations events and campaigns, using date and research to analyze performance to determine if goals are achieved. Use data to drive demand, adoption, and make recommendations to the Financial Education Manager and AVP of Community Relations, Sponsorships and Education.
  11. Responsible for ideation and creation of compelling and engaging content including website copy, digital posts, social media content, and product/service descriptions as approved by Financial Education Manager and AVP of Community Relations, Sponsorships and Education.
  12.  Add value by actively engaging members and maintaining a cohesive brand voice.
  13. Ensure credit union brand and messaging is within approved standards and is consistent throughout all partnership events.
  14. Support the Corporate Partnership Specialist(s), Community Relations Specialist(s), and Education Specialist(s) to implement various internal activities and communications to increase team member participation in community giving, business development, networking, and membership activation events.
  15. Coordinate internal communication with necessary resources to ensure team members are aware of community relations, outreach, and partner activities, events, and campaigns with approval from Financial Education Manager and AVP of Community Relations, Sponsorships and Education.
  16. Attend and represent the credit union at business development events including those held by Chambers of Commerce, trade organizations, economic development organizations, school districts, and other community partners, as appropriate.
  17. Display leadership values which include mutual respect, trust, and dignity, acting in the best interest of the credit union. Lead by example by displaying solid ethics and integrity at all times. Perform duties in a safe and sound manner.
  18. Consistently display successful communication and listening skills with team members, community partners, members, supervisor, vendors, and leadership.

  20. Maintain a general knowledge of credit union products and services.
  21. Attend credit union training sessions, conferences, or seminars as approved by supervisor.
  22. Maintain all sensitive data with the highest standard of confidentiality and professionalism.
  23. Control risk in all areas of assigned responsibility through awareness of policies and regulations while operating in a safe and sound manner.
  24. Perform administrative functions associated with areas of responsibilities and duties.
  25. Manage, direct, and complete special projects as directed by the Financial Education Manger, AVP of Community Relations, Education and Sponsorships, and the EVP of Risk Management.
  26. Perform other duties as assigned.

About You:

  1. Ability to effectively and professionally communicate ideas and information, both orally and in writing.
  2. Excellent interpersonal, listening, and customer service skills.
  3. Able to initiate and manage workflows, establish strong relationships with a diverse group of partners, and negotiate with vendors and stakeholders on projects to be completed.
  4. Strong self-starter and organizational skills with the ability to build/set scheduled, create and manage budgets, create, and suggest marketing plans, and adhere to deadlines.
  5. Ability to work cohesively and successfully in a team environment.
  6. Ability to perform administrative tasks using various computer applications as required.

Qualifications


What You Will Need:

  1. Two to four years of similar or related experience in a financial institution, community development, or community relations/events position.
  2. Four-year college degree suggested with an emphasis in Communications, Business Administration, Marketing, Management, or related field is required.
  3. Experience making presentations, utilizing presentation equipment, and maintaining tact and diplomacy when communicating.
  4. Proficiency with standard office equipment and computer software programs such as Microsoft Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, and Project) utilized in required duties.
  5. Demonstrated ability to work effectively both collaboratively and independently, with moderate supervision.
  6. Comfortable in a fast-paced, continuously changing, and sometimes ambiguous work environment.
  7. Frequent travel is required to complete credit union training, attend employee meeting and events, and to fulfill duties and responsibilities.
  8. Ability to operate a motor vehicle and maintain an active Driver’s License.
