Role Summary:
Under the direction of the Sr. Education Initiatives Manager/Team Leader, the Education Specialist will expand community outreach programs to support the credit union's strategic goals. Expand community relationships with identified schools and other community partners through financial education-based initiatives. Initiate, plan, promote, negotiate, and oversee the high school credit union programs to increase overall credit union awareness in the community. Provide coaching and support to students, participate in related community programs, and instruct credit union courses as requested. Represent the credit union at service locations and agencies in the community.
What You Will Be Doing:
  1. Supervise student employees and high school branch staff. Ensure student workers are knowledgeable and capable of performing required duties and ensure school partners' expectations are being exceeded.
  2. Provide instruction, guidelines, and product information to individuals providing credit union services at off-site high school branch locations.
  3. Act independently to create and implement effective programs to educate and train school students in credit union procedures.
  4. Build relationships between branches and school credit unions to enhance the training experience for students. As appropriate, utilize branch staff to train students.
  5. Support the credit union's education-based programs in establishing, developing, and maintaining relationships with school district officials and teachers to build relationships that will enhance and expand the credit union's affinity card program, school credit union network and membership.
  6. Provide partner management support to the Education Partnership Specialist for the credit union's affinity card partners as needed.
  7. Communicate goals of Gesa's education programs to groups, school officials, the community, and credit union staff. Represent credit union via presentations to community programs/groups.
  8. Serve on internal and external committees as needed or deemed beneficial to the credit union, as approved by AVP of Financial Education & Team Member Development.
  9. Contribute to the credit union's visibility by regularly participating in school and community events that provide educational and/or membership opportunities.
  10. Respond to requests for financial and workplace readiness education programs and schedule accordingly.
  11. Support the AVP of Financial Education & Team Member Development in the evaluation and development of new financial education offerings based on member-centered feedback.
  12. Assist with the growth, planning, and developing of actionable plans for expanding the credit union's outreach into identified community constituencies.
  13. Understand and perform Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) functions as applicable to job responsibilities.
  14. Attend credit union training sessions, conferences, or seminars as approved by supervisor. Maintain awareness of policies and regulations related to duties and responsibilities.
  15. Display leadership values which include mutual respect, trust, and dignity, and acting in the best interest of the credit union. Lead by example by displaying solid ethics and integrity at all times. Perform duties in a safe and sound manner.
  16. Maintain all sensitive data with the highest standard of confidentiality and professionalism. Consistently display respect for all areas of diversity and levels of knowledge.
  17. Perform administrative support as necessary for completion of additional assigned tasks.
  18. Perform other duties as assigned.

  3. Ability to successfully instruct students and other staff.
  4. Ability to motivate staff and coworkers and work well in a team environment.

  6. Ability to perform administrative tasks required.
Qualifications
What you Will Need:
  1. One to three years of similar or related experience; teaching or instructing experience beneficial and desired.
  2. Four-year college degree or equivalent four-year, related work experience to substitute.
  3. Experience making presentations, utilizing presentation equipment, and maintaining tact and diplomacy when communicating.
  4. Proficiency with standard office equipment and computer software programs utilized in required duties.
  5. Frequent travel is required to complete credit union training, attend employee meeting and events, and to fulfill duties and responsibilities.
