Job Summary

The 3rd shift Quality Destruct position is responsible for performing basic quality related to the inspection of materials, troubleshooting issues, and utilizing appropriate tools to measure and analyze data to maintain production and support of the Quality department’s business goals and objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Use hand tools such as, but not limited to, air chisel, chop saw, plasma cutters, grinders, hammer drill, pry-bar, and bench vice to perform destructive and/or nondestructive tests on materials, parts or products to measure performance.
• Utilize power tools including an air-hammer, chop saw, plasma cutter, and hand grinder to complete assigned tasks.
• Use Ultra Sound Spot weld inspection to analyze each spot weld, transferring data from the Ultra sound unit to the computer.
• Inspect materials, parts, or products for conformance to specifications and contact Supervisors to discuss non-conformances.
• Operate cutters, grinders, and press equipment to break welds. Use nitric acid to conduct acid and measurement tests with lecoscope.
• Use measurement tools such as calipers and micrometers to ensure adequate welds of parts or products.
• Complete appropriate paperwork to inform Weld Technicians of part failure for equipment repair and/or service.
• Evaluate data and write reports to validate indicate deviations from existing standards.
• Enter data into graphs and charts, provided by Engineering.
• Recommend modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within limits of equipment capability.
• Complete and turn in appropriate paperwork and data records to Supervisor.
• Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
• Learn and improve skills.
• All other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

1. Minimum 1 years of manufacturing experience in automotive industry with emphasis on stamping related equipment.

2. Computer proficiency – Email, Word, Excel required; SAP a plus

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

1. Prior knowledge of metric and standard tools and operating pneumatic and power tools

2. Ability to understand and follow written and verbal workplace instructions

3. Ability to tear apart a weld

4. Has technical capacity

5. Anticipates and troubleshoot personnel and process abnormalities

6. Computer experience

7. Basic math skills

8. Ability to work overtime as required

9. Ability to update standard work forms

10. Leads by example and demonstrates respect to others with a positive and supportive attitude

11. Strong communication skills including written, verbal and listening

12. English language at medium level skill

1. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus

2. Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle, manipulate, or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, talk and hear

3. Employee must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds

4. While performing the duties of the job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time

5. Moderate noise level
