DescriptionAs an Academic Support Coordinator, you will play a key role in helping students achieve their academic goals. This position involves working directly with students to identify and overcome barriers to their success, developing personalized strategies, and enhancing their study skills. Collaboration with various campus resources is essential to provide holistic support and ensure that students thrive academically.
Key Responsibilities
  • Assist students in identifying and addressing barriers to academic success.
  • Develop and implement individualized plans to strengthen study skills, including time management, note-taking, and test preparation.
  • Work one-on-one with students to explore effective study strategies and regularly assess and adjust these strategies as needed.
  • Support students on academic probation or those who have been readmitted, helping them create and update success plans.
  • Collaborate with Professional Advisors, Faculty Advisors, Disability Services, Tutoring Services, and other campus resources to provide comprehensive support.
  • Utilize the EAB Navigate system to document student interactions and follow up based on alerts, progress reports, and referrals.
  • Develop and present workshops and lessons on college readiness, academic success strategies, and “college knowledge.”
  • Assess the effectiveness of coaching sessions and workshops, making improvements as necessary.
  • Maintain positive relationships with faculty, academic advisors, and other departments, referring students to additional resources when needed.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Willingness to learn and utilize EAB Navigate and other student management systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to adhere to FERPA regulations.
  • Ability to multitask, work in a fast-paced environment, and manage competing demands.
  • Effective listening skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Background similar to the students served.
  • Experience working in a higher education environment.
  • Experience working with underrepresented students.
Physical Demands
  • Ability to chaperone student field trips.
  • Willingness to work extended hours during peak times and performance reporting season.
