Job DescriptionJoin a dedicated, dynamic, and well-respected faculty team that values innovation, creativity, and a commitment to academic excellence. The Department of Natural Sciences and Mathematics invites applications for a full-time, twelve-month remote Assistant Professor position in Computer Science, starting in August 2024. This role supports our online Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, with courses taught asynchronously in eight-week sessions. This program, having been successfully offered in person, has now expanded to an online format.
ResponsibilitiesTeaching: Deliver a wide range of undergraduate Computer Science courses, including programming in C and Python, algorithms, theory of automata, computer graphics, architecture, compilers, networks, operating systems, software engineering, artificial intelligence, and databases. Teach 30 credit hours or equivalent per year.
Course Development: Create and update asynchronous course content, implement assessments, and enhance the online student learning experience through co-curricular activities.
Professional Development: Stay current in your field through continuous learning and professional activities. Annual funding for conference attendance and professional development is available.
Service: Contribute to department and college service, including advising, mentoring, supervising student internships and research, supporting adjunct faculty, and participating in committees and special projects.
QualificationsPh.D. in Computer Science or a closely related field from an accredited program, required by the start date.
Experience in college teaching, particularly in asynchronous and/or synchronous formats, is highly desired.
Proven experience in online course development and program-level assessment is preferred.
