OverviewYou will play a crucial role in developing curriculum documents that detail what students should be capable of upon entering and exiting a course. Your focus will be on aligning curriculum with Science of Reading research, collaborating with various teams to create instructional content, and ensuring the highest quality and consistency in all materials.
Key ResponsibilitiesContent Development: Create, evaluate, and revise content to align with Science of Reading research.
Course Structure: Collaborate to determine strategic approaches to course structure and help create and maintain Scope and Sequences for new courses across multiple grade levels.
Module Planning: Plan content modules and design materials for multi-year curricula to meet content standards.
Prototyping: Work with other Curriculum Specialists, design teams, and production support teams to develop prototypes and templates for both online and offline activities and lessons.
Instructional Guidance: Write text designed to guide non-specialist adults through the steps needed to coach students through lessons.
Content Creation: Develop and revise storyboards, assessments, and hands-on activities in collaboration with team members.
Design Specifications: Provide visual design specifications for corresponding graphics, photos, illustrations, and animations.
Interactive Materials: Collaborate with Visual Designers to create and develop interactive assets and materials, and establish visual standards related to content.
Content Management: Upload content into various corporate systems such as Learnosity, BrightSpot, OLS, DAM, and Sharepoint.
Quality Assurance: Consult with Shared Services to discuss standards and consistency of content, style, visuals, and documents.
Usability Testing: Participate in usability testing of instructional materials and incorporate feedback into content design.
Research: Stay updated on current research and best practices related to curriculum, instructional design, and assessment.
Mentorship: Train and mentor new and junior Curriculum Specialists.
QualificationsEducation: Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in Instructional Design, Curriculum Design, Education, or a related field preferred.
Experience: At least five years of experience in learning product development. Experience in Science of Reading and leading production workflows is highly desirable.

Proficiency in technology, media, and instructional design techniques.
Excellent written and oral communication skills and interpersonal skills.
Self-motivated with a demonstrated ability to meet deadlines with creativity, independence, and high standards.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio, etc.) and web applications.
Ability to clear a required background check.
Work EnvironmentThis is a virtual position open to residents of all 50 states and Washington, D.C.
Compensation & BenefitsSalary range: $68,572.50 to $109,716.00, depending on various factors such as education, experience, and location.
Eligible employees may receive bonuses and a robust benefits package that can include health benefits, retirement contributions, and paid time off.
