This position requires maintaining internet service and a mobile phone with voice and data plans for work purposes. Remote work for individuals residing outside of Texas but within the US and its territories is subject to approval.
EligibilityMust be eligible to work in the United States on a full-time basis for any employer.
PurposeProvide leadership, strategic guidance, and overall management for Student Services, including operational support, reporting, and driving critical projects.
ResponsibilitiesLeadership and Strategy: Collaborate leadership to achieve the unit's mission. Develop vision, strategy, and roadmaps to support university-wide needs. Consider long-term consequences and implications of actions and decisions.
Relationship Building: Build effective relationships inside and outside the organization. Model service orientation toward stakeholders and partners. Engage and collaborate with diverse groups to address university-wide issues.
Team Development: Recruit, hire, develop, coach, and mentor team members. Foster a high-performance, team-oriented culture. Encourage learning, self-management, and agile methodologies among team members. Recognize and reward team efforts.
Resource Management: Make budget and resource recommendations. Manage critical projects. Support continuous improvement and recognize opportunities to better realize business value. Ensure security, reliability, usability, accessibility, and maintainability of systems and data.
Metrics and Reporting: Create and use effective metrics to support decision-making and drive results.
Required QualificationsBachelor's degree
Demonstrated leadership in a dynamic work environment
Ability to lead, manage, and mentor project managers, software developers, process architects, and knowledge managers
Experience building and maintaining a high-performing team and functioning as a servant leader
Experience leading as a change agent, fostering trust and stakeholder engagement
Success in leading teams of at least eight people and effectively delegating as appropriate
Experience facilitating work groups to design or transform business processes
Ability to translate complex technical terminology into easily understandable concepts for varied stakeholders
Experience managing contracts with software vendors and implementation consultants
Eight or more years of progressive experience in systems development and support
Excellent written, verbal, relationship, and presentation skills
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred QualificationsMaster's degree
Experience with university computing systems
Experience in a technical capacity within a Provost's portfolio supporting systems related to faculty or students
Effectiveness in negotiating and partnering with groups with different interests
Experience leading multiple teams
Familiarity with operational or project methodologies such as agile or DevOps
More than eight years of progressive experience in systems development
Salary Range$135,000 depending on qualifications
