Essential FunctionsAs an Assistant Part-time Professor, your responsibilities will include:
Teaching courses within a programmatic core discipline.
Establishing communication channels with students through welcome letters, video introductions, and timely email responses.
Hosting synchronous office hour sessions to support student learning.
Providing quality feedback to students to facilitate their academic growth.
ScholarshipWe encourage our Assistant Part-time Professors to contribute to the body of knowledge in their discipline and meet the University's requirements for scholarship. Opportunities to engage in research and scholarly activities are available and supported.
Compliance With University PoliciesIt is essential for Assistant Part-time Professors to understand and comply with University policies outlined in the Team Member Handbook and Faculty Handbook.
RequirementsEducation & Experience:
Master's degree in Secondary Education, Curriculum & Instruction, or English Education.
Minimum of 7-10 years of current experience in grade levels 7-12 Secondary English classrooms.
Current Clear Valid California State Teaching Credential - Secondary English.
Experience with online education delivery and relevant technology systems.
Preferred QualificationsStrong background in secondary literacy development.
Experience in curriculum development.
Previous experience in Higher Education.
Competencies/Technical/Functional SkillsAbility to work effectively in a team environment.
Personal accountability and integrity.
Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
Innovative thinking and problem-solving abilities.
Proficiency in office management/systems within a higher education environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Applications.
Familiarity with Student Information Systems (SIS) is advantageous.
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
Willingness to integrate new technologies into teaching.
Mastery of APA style.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Compensation RangeHourly: $26.63 - $28.89
