Position: Reading Specialist (Independent Contractor)
ResponsibilitiesLead engaging and effective reading sessions tailored to individual student needs, drawing from research-based methodologies.
Harness learning technology and Learning Management Systems (LMS) to enrich reading programs and create interactive learning experiences.
Conduct thorough assessments to gauge students' reading levels and monitor their progress over time.
Work with students of various ages, providing personalized guidance and recommending self-directed learning activities.
Employ diagnostic tools to identify literacy challenges and deliver targeted instruction to enhance students' reading and writing skills.
Develop and implement instructional plans for students facing difficulties in reading or writing, fostering a culture of reading enthusiasm and appreciation.
Provide one-on-one or small group instruction, employing scaffolding techniques and differentiated teaching methods.
QualificationsBachelor's degree in Education or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
Certification as a teacher is desirable.
Demonstrated expertise in working with students with learning disabilities or reading challenges at their respective grade levels.
Experience in designing instruction based on assessment results, teacher input, and parental recommendations.
Familiarity with 504, IEP, and ISP documents, ensuring alignment with individual student goals and objectives.
Knowledge of tutoring techniques and educational best practices, with a particular interest in integrating physical education, art, and music into literacy development.
Warmth, empathy, and strong behavior management skills are essential for fostering a positive learning environment.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, along with a collaborative mindset for working with educators, parents, and students.
Access to personal computer, headset, microphone, and reliable internet for conducting virtual tutoring sessions.
