Get It Recruit - Educational Services is Hiring a Remote Speech Language Pathologist - Remote | WFH

Position SummaryThis position is based in the Sitka Rehabilitation Services Department, focusing on Pediatric Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) evaluations and treatments to enhance patient functional abilities. The role requires professionalism, respect for confidentiality, and adherence to SEARHC's Seven Standards for Service Excellence. Services are provided in compliance with hospital standards, Joint Commission Home Health regulations, Alaska state licensure requirements, and the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association guidelines.
ResponsibilitiesProvide Pediatric SLP services in various settings including inpatient, outpatient, Home Health, and Long Term Care, based on physician referrals.
Conduct assessments, evaluations, and therapy diagnosis, and formulate treatment plans with specific goals.
Implement and adjust therapy plans based on patient responses to optimize outcomes.
Collaborate with healthcare teams, attend care conferences, and maintain communication with referring providers and other professionals.
Document patient encounters, treatment plans, and outcomes according to hospital and Home Health policies.
Direct support staff, students, or interns as needed.
Develop and deliver patient education programs and home exercise plans to support rehabilitative goals.
Advise patients and families on self-care techniques and promote independence.
Conduct therapy sessions in diverse community settings, including remote locations, utilizing video conferencing as necessary.
Assist in administrative tasks, clinic operations, and contribute to specialty/research areas as required.
Manage clinical supplies and maintain cleanliness of clinical spaces.
Educate staff, conduct in-service training, and provide therapy consultations to medical staff and other healthcare personnel.
Stay updated with SLP practices and participate in continuing education activities.
Position ComplexitiesSpeech-Language Pathologists handle a wide range of patient ages and diagnoses, requiring comprehensive assessment, treatment planning, and therapeutic interventions. The role involves decision-making within clinical teams and contributes to program development, quality improvement, and productivity enhancement.
QualificationsEducation: Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
Experience: Minimum 3 years of relevant therapy experience; acute care hospital experience preferred.
License/Certification: Licensed by the State of Alaska in Speech-Language Pathology, Certification of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, Basic Life Support certification, and valid Driver's License.
Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesStrong understanding of speech production and swallowing physiology, neurological diseases, and related SLP assessments and treatments.
Proficiency in SLP evaluation, treatment planning, and documentation.
Excellent communication skills for patient interaction, staff education, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Ability to utilize information technology effectively and proficiency with various software applications and devices.
Capability to adapt communication to different audiences and translate complex medical information into understandable language.
Physical ability to perform therapeutic techniques and ensure patient safety during treatments.
