About The RoleJoin our team as an Assistant Director of Compliance - Financial Crimes and be a part of Symetra's Enterprise Compliance Department. We're looking for a dedicated individual to lead and oversee our Financial Crimes function, collaborating with various departments across the company. This role is pivotal in ensuring our compliance with Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) regulations, as well as maintaining robust reporting mechanisms. What You'll Do
Develop, enhance, and implement comprehensive AML and OFAC compliance policies, procedures, and controls in alignment with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
Oversee the monitoring, investigation, and reporting of suspicious activities, ensuring thorough alert review, case investigations, due diligence processes, transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, and suspicious activity reporting.
Provide strategic direction and guidance to stakeholders in effectively managing financial crimes risks across the organization.
Conduct regular risk assessments and controls reviews to identify vulnerabilities and areas for improvement within the AML and OFAC programs.
Manage the LexisNexis Bridger platform to maintain and enhance screening processes, centralizing source data systems across the enterprise.
Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and integration of financial crimes compliance with business objectives.
Serve as the primary liaison with regulatory agencies, internal and external auditors, and law enforcement authorities on matters related to AML, OFAC, and financial crimes compliance.
Provide training and guidance to employees on financial crimes requirements, policies, and procedures.
Lead and mentor a team of compliance professionals, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Lead Corporate Compliance projects and initiatives aimed at advancing the organization's regulatory compliance and adapting to changes.

Minimum of eight years of leadership or managerial experience in AML, OFAC, and financial crimes compliance or a similar regulatory compliance position.
Thorough understanding of regulatory requirements for financial crimes in the life insurance industry.
Proven track record of designing and implementing effective financial crimes compliance programs.
Excellent analytical skills with the ability to identify and assess complex financial crime risks.
Demonstrated leadership experience, sound judgment, integrity, and ethical decision-making skills.
