This position plays a crucial role in ensuring efficient and accurate patient registration, screening, and pre-service financial arrangements. The primary responsibilities include obtaining necessary patient information, explaining hospital policies, insurance benefits, and ensuring exceptional customer service. Job Duties/Responsibilities
Monitor Financial Procedures: Ensure financial responsibilities and pre-payments are managed effectively across various hospital locations.
Insurance Verification: Conduct insurance verifications through phone, fax, or online channels.
Financial Information Gathering: Collect and document patient deductible, coinsurance, and copay details, reviewing any outstanding debts.
Estimation and Payment Collection: Provide patients with estimated procedure costs and options for payment, facilitating payments either via phone or during registration.
Customer Service and Problem Solving: Offer prompt assistance and resolve queries from patients and other stakeholders.
Patient Registration: Pre-register patients when required and ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines.
Good Faith Estimates: Compile and provide accurate Good Faith Estimate information to patients as per regulatory standards.
Patient Liaison: Act as a liaison between the hospital and patients/families to resolve issues and address concerns.
Education and Training: Participate in ongoing educational programs and training sessions to maintain skills and support new hires.
Compliance and Improvement: Adhere to departmental policies and actively participate in meetings and process improvement initiatives.
Health Record Management: Identify and report inconsistencies in electronic health records to supervisors.
Mission Alignment: Perform all duties in alignment with the mission, vision, and values of the healthcare organization.
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
Proficiency in data entry and PC skills.
Knowledge of medical terminology.
Strong customer service skills with a focus on patient care.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Remote work capability with occasional onsite meetings.
Proficiency in multitasking with computers and telephones.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in patient registration, advocacy, or pre-service payment collections.
Associates degree in a healthcare-related field.
Physical DemandsThis role involves regular body motion including bending, squatting, kneeling, and twisting. Occasional lifting up to 20 pounds and pushing wheelchairs are required.
