As a Product Underwriter at the company, you will collaborate with leaders across operations, product management, engineering, and design to tackle complex challenges.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the VP of the company Underwriting to implement our vision of leveraging human expertise and technological advancements for the benefit of First American and its customers.
- Work with cross-functional teams to find the optimal balance between technology and risk selection, ensuring profitability and compliance in the insurance business.
- Mentor and develop underwriting talent within the team, attracting top-tier multidisciplinary thinkers to join the company.
- Co-develop new technologies, products, and services, bridging the gap between technical and business operations.
- Provide strategic guidance on the integration of technology into title insurance and settlement services.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships across diverse stakeholders.
- Demonstrated leadership ability or a willingness to develop empathetic leadership skills.
- Clear and persuasive communication skills, adaptable to various audiences.
- Proficiency in modern product development processes and user-centered design practices.
- Expertise in real estate title insurance and settlement services processes.
- Eagerness to continuously learn and adapt to new technologies and industry trends.
- Intellectual curiosity and a proactive approach to challenging the status quo.
- Technical aptitude, with familiarity in software engineering or technical requirement writing.
- Bachelor's degree required; law degree or graduate degree in a relevant field preferred.
- 5 years of experience in the title industry (title search/examination or underwriting) or in law practice focusing on real property or technology.
