About The RoleAs the Senior Financial Project Accountant, you will collaborate closely with our Accounting Leadership Team to drive project-based accounting initiatives across our organization. You will interact extensively with Project Finance, FP&A Managers, and the general Accounting Team. Your role will encompass comprehensive GAAP financial statement preparation, financial audits, and critical project-based accounting (Service Contracts, EPC, Construction, and Lease Accounting) in support of our expanding nationwide portfolio of utility-scale renewables. Experience with Lease Accounting (ASC842) and revenue recognition (ASC606) is essential.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of project-based financial reporting (monthly, quarterly, & yearly) and journal entries across multi-entity structures.
• Collaborate with EPC Project Managers to assess and track project costs and performance towards renewable project milestones, ensuring accurate recording of EPC project expenses.
• Lead implementation of capitalization accounting initiatives in collaboration with Project Development and EPC Teams, encompassing project leases, contracts, debts, expenses, accruals, reconciliations, and deposits.
• Drive project contract accounting requirements and compliance through development of financial reporting packages, including loan draw request packages, debt service coverage reports (DSCR), cost variance analysis, and cash flow forecasting.
• Lead revenue recognition assessments based on Lease Accounting ASC842 and Revenue Recognition ASC606 requirements.

Qualifications

• 5 years of corporate finance and accounting experience, proficient in GAAP principles.
• Experience in Project-Based Accounting (Project Development, EPC, Construction, Service Contracts, Leases).
• CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or CMA (Certified Management Accountant) highly preferred.
• Proficiency in QuickBooks or similar financial accounting software.
• Advanced Excel skills including macro/VBA writing, data queries, and pivot tables.
• Strong understanding of financial statements, reports, and reviews (account reconciliations, accruals, deposits, contracts, capitalization, leases).
• Familiarity with financial debt agreements, requirements, and debt service coverage ratios (DSCR).
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex financial concepts to stakeholders.
• Experience supporting financial reporting and accounting for EPC or Construction operations.
• Experience in renewables (solar, wind, battery storage, or energy storage projects) desirable but not required.
• Familiarity with national energy power market tariffs and incentives beneficial but not required.
