Position OverviewAs the Senior Renewables Financial Accountant (Corporate and Projects), you will collaborate closely with our Accounting Leadership Team to drive project-based accounting initiatives. This role interfaces extensively with Project Finance, FP&A Management, and our general Accounting Team. You will play a pivotal role in maintaining GAAP financial standards, conducting financial audits, and overseeing critical project-based accounting activities (including Service Contracts, EPC, Construction, and Lease Accounting) to support our nationwide portfolio of utility-scale renewables. Experience with Lease Accounting (ASC842) and revenue recognition (ASC606) is essential for this role.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of project-based financial reporting (monthly, quarterly, & yearly) and journal entries across multi-entity structures.
• Collaborate with EPC Project Managers to assess and track project costs, measuring performance against critical renewable project milestones.
• Lead capitalization implementation initiatives in coordination with Project Development and EPC Teams, managing project leases, contracts, debts, expenses, accruals, and reconciliations.
• Manage project contract accounting requirements and ensure compliance through development of financial reporting packages.
• Conduct revenue recognition assessments based on Lease Accounting ASC842 and Revenue Recognition ASC606 requirements.

Qualifications

• 5 years of corporate finance and accounting experience with a strong understanding of GAAP principles.
• Proficiency in Project-Based Accounting (Project Development, EPC, Construction, Service Contracts, Leases) is required.
• CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or CMA (Certified Management Accountant) highly preferred.
• Expertise in QuickBooks or similar financial accounting software programs required.
• Advanced MS Excel skills including macro/VBA writing, data queries, and pivot tables.
• Experience with financial statements, financial reports, and financial reviews (account reconciliations, accruals, deposits, contracts, capitalization, leases).
• Understanding of financial debt agreements, debt requirements, and debt service coverage ratios (DSCR).
• Strong communication skills with the ability to convey complex financial concepts to stakeholders.
• Experience supporting financial reporting and accounting initiatives for EPC or Construction operations is advantageous.
• Familiarity with renewables (solar, wind, battery storage, energy storage projects) is highly desirable.
• Understanding of national energy power market tariffs and incentives is beneficial.
