Key ResponsibilitiesFollow up with payers via phone, email, fax, or online platforms to resolve outstanding claims promptly.
Meet daily productivity and quality standards set by departmental policies.
Utilize workflow and client host systems to collect payments and resolve account discrepancies.
Adhere to client/team policies and procedures, including knowledge of payer-specific billing guidelines and timely filing deadlines.
Conduct research on payer-specific billing guidelines and initiate appeals as necessary.
Analyze and resolve issues causing payment delays, proactively identifying trends to reduce denials.
Communicate identified issues or trends to management.
Correct medical billing errors and manage under or over payments and credit balances.
Assist with special accounts receivable projects as assigned, demonstrating strong analytical skills and effective communication of results.
Collaborate courteously with patients, visitors, colleagues, and clients, maintaining a professional demeanor at all times.
Work independently from assigned work queues while maintaining confidentiality and adhering to HIPAA standards.
Perform other duties as assigned by management.
QualificationsPreferred 1 years of experience in insurance collections, including claim submission and follow-up in a medical practice, facility, billing company, ambulatory surgical center, or hospital.
Familiarity with physician/professional billing processes preferred.
Basic understanding of denied claims and appeals processes.
Knowledge of Worker's Comp and PIP (Personal Injury Protection) preferred.
Proficiency in navigating individual payer websites such as Navinet, Availity, and various Blue Cross Blue Shield, Medicare, and Medicaid sites (depending on state).
Familiarity with medical terminology, CPT codes, modifiers, and diagnosis codes.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Basic MS Office skills, including a fundamental understanding of Excel.
Experience with practice management systems (e.g., EPIC PB, Centricity, Allscripts, Cerner) preferred.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
