Position OverviewWe are excited to offer a unique opportunity to join a leading outpatient medical clinic specializing in Medication for Addiction Treatment (MAT). Our clinic is dedicated to providing accessible care for all substance use disorders.
We are looking for a meticulous and experienced Certified Professional Coder (CPC) to become a key member of our team. This role offers the chance to work in a dynamic environment where you will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of our medical records.
Key ResponsibilitiesAccurately and promptly code medical records using ICD-9 and ICD-10 classification systems.
Utilize medical office software and electronic health records (EHRs) to access and review patient data.
Conduct thorough research to ensure compliance with DRG guidelines and medical coding regulations.
Identify and correct any coding errors to maintain the highest level of accuracy in our records.
Collaborate with medical staff and healthcare professionals to ensure coding consistency with medical practices and terminology.
Stay current with medical coding guidelines and industry best practices.
Analyze data related to medical billing and coding and make recommendations for improvements.
Conduct audits and reviews of medical records to ensure compliance with coding regulations and internal policies.
Provide training and support to new hires and staff on medical coding and record-keeping procedures.
Ensure compliance with HIPAA Privacy Rules.
QualificationsCPC (Certified Professional Coder) - REQUIRED
Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical coding, preferably in a medical office setting.
In-depth knowledge of ICD-9 and ICD-10 classification systems and DRG guidelines.
Strong understanding of medical terminology and anatomy.
Proficiency in medical office software and electronic health records (EHRs).
Intermediate to advanced computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and email. Knowledge of data abstracting software is a plus.
Excellent interpersonal skills for effective communication with team members, physicians, and clinical staff.
Ability to analyze medical records and coding guidelines, extract data, identify areas for quality improvement, and ensure regulatory compliance.
