Medical Billing Specialist
Are you passionate about medical billing and eager to be part of a team dedicated to making a positive impact in the community? We are looking for an experienced Medical Billing Specialist to join our dynamic and growing team. If you have a keen eye for detail and a strong background in medical billing, this could be the perfect opportunity for you!
Starting Salary: $23 per hour with opportunities for growth.
Location: Remote! Applicants from Central Oregon will be given priority.
Your RoleAs a Medical Billing Specialist, you'll play a key role in ensuring that billing, claims processing, and collections are handled efficiently and accurately. Your responsibilities will include:
Claims Submission: Submit initial claims for services promptly, ensuring accuracy and compliance to secure appropriate reimbursements.
Issue Resolution: Address problem accounts and payer denials, submit corrected claims, and follow up on outstanding claims.
Billing and Collections: Manage billing and collection for services provided, including counseling clinics and off-site providers.
Knowledge Development: Stay updated on Out-Patient Mental Health billing codes, modifiers, and payer requirements.
Audit Participation: Engage in payer audits and act as a liaison between clients and clinicians for billing-related inquiries.
Professional Conduct: Exhibit professionalism, a strong work ethic, and effective teamwork.
Minimum QualificationsEducation: High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor's degree preferred).
Experience: Three years of billing experience, ideally in a multi-provider practice, hospital, or mental health office.
RequirementsAdhere to HIPAA privacy standards.
Represent the organization professionally and support its mission and values.
Comply with all relevant laws, regulations, and policies.
CompetenciesStrong mathematical and analytical skills for managing billing and financial records.
Ability to collaborate and work both independently and as part of a team.
Excellent time management and organizational abilities.
Proficiency in using office equipment, software (Google, SharePoint, Microsoft), and EMR/EHR systems.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to handle stress calmly and professionally.
Physical RequirementsProlonged periods of sitting and working on a computer.
Ability to lift up to 15 pounds.
Background Check RequirementEmployment is contingent upon successfully passing a background check.
What We OfferCompensation: Starting at $23 per hour, with potential for increase after a satisfactory review (within the first 90 days). Additional 5% pay incentive for bilingual Spanish skills.
Paid Time Off: Four weeks of PTO per year, pro-rated based on hire date.
Health Insurance: Employer contributions towards medical, dental, prescription, and vision insurance, including acupuncture, chiropractic, and orthodontia coverage through Moda Health (available the 1st of the month following start date), with HDHP and HSA options.
Flexible Spending Accounts: Medical and Dependent Care FSA.
Supplemental Insurance: Life Insurance, Short Term Disability, Accident, and Hospital Insurance offered through Aflac.
Retirement: Company contributes up to 3% to your retirement fund after one year of service.
