Get It Recruit - Healthcare is Hiring a Remote Medical Coder - Remote

SummaryResponsible for accurately assigning Evaluation and Management (E&M) codes, ICD diagnoses, Current Procedural Terminology (CPT), Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS), modifiers, and quantities based on medical record documentation (paper or electronic) for outpatient encounters. Provides training and education to MTF staff on coding issues and contributes to coding compliance activities.
Education/CertificationCandidates should possess recognized certifications from the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) and/or American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC), such as Registered Health Information Technologist (RHIT), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Certified Professional Coder (CPC), or CCS-P (Certified Coder Specialist - Physician) with appropriate experience.
ExperienceMinimum of three years of experience in the outpatient setting (physician's office or ambulatory surgery centers) within the last five years, including proficiency in E&M, CPT, and HCPCS coding across multiple medical specialties (e.g., Family Practice, Pediatrics, Gastroenterology, OB/GYN). Experience in ancillary specialties (PT/OT, Radiology, Lab, Nutrition) that typically do not use E&M codes is not considered qualifying. Coding, auditing, and training in specialties such as home health, skilled nursing facilities, and rehabilitation care are also not qualifying. Military medical facility experience in outpatient/ambulatory surgery coding for two years may qualify.

Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks effectively, and meet deadlines.
Desirable QualificationsPrior coding experience in a Military Treatment Facility (MTF). Familiarity with MHS Genesis is preferred.
Additional RequirementsProof of COVID-19 vaccination or documented exception.
Must obtain a security clearance (US citizenship required) before starting the position.
