Job Title: Academic Advisor II
Location: Arlington, TX
Position Type: Full-time
We're seeking a dedicated and experienced Academic Advisor II to join our vibrant university community in Arlington, Texas. As a key member of our Student Success team, you'll play a crucial role in guiding and supporting both undergraduate and graduate students on their academic journeys.
About The RoleIn this position, you'll provide comprehensive academic advising to current and prospective students, with a focus on our Master of City & Regional Planning graduate program and two doctoral programs. You'll also assist with undergraduate advising as needed. Your expertise will help students navigate their academic paths, make informed decisions, and achieve their educational and career goals.
Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct one-on-one and group academic advising sessions using various modalities (in-person, virtual, phone, and email)
  • Guide students on degree requirements, course selection, and career planning
  • Monitor academic progress for your student caseload and provide proactive outreach
  • Assist with student recruitment, admissions processes, and marketing initiatives
  • Collaborate on new and ongoing student success initiatives
  • Participate in campus events, professional development, and community outreach activities
  • Maintain accurate records and utilize student information systems effectively
Qualifications
  • Master's degree required
  • Minimum of two years of experience in academic advising at the college level
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and student information systems
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in higher education
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience at a public R1 university
  • Familiarity with both undergraduate and graduate advising
  • Knowledge of admissions processes and recruitment strategies
