Position OverviewWe are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced individual to join our team as a Culinary Garden Manager for a one-acre family farm. This role offers a unique opportunity to blend culinary expertise with sustainable farming practices in a dynamic, family-oriented environment.
About UsOur private family office manages a diverse range of properties, including a beautiful one-acre farm dedicated to organic, farm-to-table produce. We're committed to sustainable practices, education, and creating memorable experiences for our family and guests.
Key Responsibilities
  • Farm Management:
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive operational strategy for year-round organic produce cultivation
  • Create and manage crop plans in collaboration with the family chef
  • Implement best practices in weed management, irrigation, pest control, and harvesting
  • Maintain farm buildings, equipment, and greenhouse
  • Animal Care:
  • Oversee the well-being of farm animals, ensuring their health and safety
  • Perform daily care routines and coordinate with veterinary services as needed
  • Sustainability Initiatives:
  • Manage composting systems
  • Implement and maintain organic farming practices
  • Develop strategies for utilizing excess produce, including preservation methods
  • Educational Programming:
  • Create engaging, age-appropriate activities for children to learn about farming and sustainability
  • Stay informed about current trends and best practices in organic farming and share knowledge with the team
  • Event Support:
  • Assist in coordinating special events both on and off the property
  • Incorporate cut flower production for family and guest enjoyment
  • Administrative Duties:
  • Maintain accurate financial records and manage budgets
  • Conduct regular farm inspections and soil testing
  • Ensure compliance with food safety protocols
Qualifications
  • 3-5 years of experience in organic vegetable farming, greenhouse cultivation, and orchard care
  • Proven track record in developing and managing small-scale farms
  • Experience with farm animal care
  • Strong knowledge of farm equipment operation and maintenance
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Macintosh OS
  • Ability to work flexibly, including weekends and some travel (up to 10%)
Ideal Candidate Characteristics
  • Passionate about sustainable agriculture and farm-to-table concepts
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently in a semi-remote environment
  • Adaptable and comfortable with changing priorities
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Enjoys working with children and animals
  • Customer service or hospitality management experience is a plus
