Position Title: Trainer/Senior Trainer Reports To: Project Director Employment Type: Full-Time, Exempt Location: New York City (This role follows a hybrid work schedule with 2 days in the office and 3 days remote) OverviewWe are seeking an experienced and passionate Trainer/Senior Trainer to join our team. In this role, you will provide expert training and contribute to the development of training designs, materials, and curricula for our portfolio of Community Health Worker (CHW) programs. Your expertise will empower communities through educational initiatives that promote health equity and address social determinants of health. Key Responsibilities
Deliver exceptional virtual and classroom training using engaging presentation skills
Leverage adult learning principles to design and facilitate effective training programs
Develop and update training curricula, materials, and educational packages
Integrate knowledge of learning technologies to enhance training delivery
Collaborate with cross-functional teams of trainers and curriculum designers
Implement cultural humility principles throughout the training process
Adapt technical content into accessible training materials for diverse audiences
Participate in Training of Facilitators (TOF) and Training of Trainers (TOT) opportunities
Co-train with other staff members and consultants as required
Support online training production as needed
Assist with training calendar planning and coordination
Engage in advisory groups, focus groups, and needs assessment activities
Maintain accurate records of training activities adhering to established protocols
Participate in continuous quality improvement efforts, including post-training debriefs
Provide ongoing technical assistance related to perinatal health, women's health, and family planning services in New York
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Public Health or a related field, or equivalent experience; Master's in Public Health or a related field is preferred
Minimum of 2 years of experience providing exceptional training
Direct experience working with marginalized or underserved communities, delivering training or services
Experience collaborating with community-based organizations, healthcare organizations, and social service agencies that employ or implement CHW programs
Knowledge of Community Health Worker Programs, Health Equity Principles, and Maternal and Infant Health Issues
Experience working with communities of color and those disproportionately affected by social determinants of health
Familiarity with or experience as a Community Health Worker or Peer, or in a program that trained CHWs or Peers
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
Ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team
Flexibility to accommodate frequent travel (up to 25% within New York State) and occasional overnight stays
Adaptability and versatility in training techniques
Professional presence and demeanor
Exceptional planning, organization, and multitasking abilities
Willingness to lift up to 15 pounds at times
