Position OverviewWe are seeking a passionate and experienced Senior Red Hat Systems Administrator to join our team. In this role, you will lead the administration and support of a significant federal migration and modernization project, transitioning from on-premises infrastructure to AWS GovCloud. You will be responsible for managing Red Hat Linux servers hosting IBM WebSphere Application Server and DB2 databases, ensuring they meet high availability, performance, and federal security standards during migration and ongoing operations.
Key ResponsibilitiesSystem Migration and Management: Oversee the seamless migration of Red Hat Linux systems, including IBM WebSphere and DB2 servers, to AWS GovCloud. Ensure a secure and efficient transition with minimal disruption to services.
Comprehensive System Administration: Manage Red Hat Linux servers to optimize performance and meet project requirements. Administer IBM WebSphere and DB2 environments to support application needs effectively.
Security Compliance and STIG Implementation: Implement security measures in accordance with federal guidelines, including Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and regular compliance audits. Ensure systems adhere to FedRAMP, NIST, and other federal security standards.
Automation and Efficiency: Use automation tools like Ansible, Puppet, or Chef to streamline administrative tasks. Develop scripts to automate maintenance, monitoring, and deployment, enhancing reliability and operational efficiency.
Troubleshooting and Technical Support: Act as the primary expert for troubleshooting complex issues related to Red Hat Linux, IBM WebSphere, and DB2. Provide high-level support to ensure continuous system availability and reliability.
Documentation and Compliance Reporting: Maintain comprehensive documentation on system configurations, migration procedures, and compliance measures. Ensure audit readiness by documenting all STIG implementations and security compliance activities.
Required QualificationsProfessional Experience: At least 7 years of experience in system administration, particularly with Red Hat Linux environments, and significant experience managing IBM WebSphere and DB2 databases.
Technical Proficiency: Expertise in Red Hat Linux, IBM WebSphere, DB2, virtualization technologies, and AWS cloud services. Proficiency with automation tools for system management.
Security and Compliance Expertise: In-depth understanding of federal security regulations and the STIG process. Experience ensuring compliance with FedRAMP, NIST, and other standards.
Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Excellent troubleshooting capabilities and the ability to manage complex technical challenges effectively.
Preferred Skills And ExperienceExperience with Docker, Kubernetes, and other container technologies.
Advanced scripting skills in Bash, Python, or Perl.
Knowledge of infrastructure as code (IaC) practices.
Certifications: Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA), Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE), and AWS certifications are highly preferred.
EducationBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Clearance RequirementsU.S. Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.
