Director of Sales, Special Hazards
What You Will DoAs the Director of Sales, Special Hazards, you will be pivotal in driving growth opportunities for our Fire Suppression products in the US. This senior leadership role involves developing and nurturing high-level relationships with end-users, distributors, and partners to ensure our products are preferred or proprietary in the market.
Key ResponsibilitiesRelationship Building: Establish and strengthen relationships with key customers, contractors, and distributors to boost sales volume and enhance customer service.
Sales Strategy: Plan, direct, and manage sales resources to ensure comprehensive coverage of all accounts. Develop and execute robust business plans, including budgeting, cost analysis, and control measures.
Goal Setting: Set ambitious sales targets and stretch goals to drive performance.
Market Analysis: Identify current and future market opportunities and tailor strategic sales plans to maximize market share and top-line growth.
Data-Driven Decisions: Utilize data to make informed decisions and guide sales strategies.
Customer Understanding: Engage with all levels of customer organizations to understand and anticipate their needs.
Problem Solving: Navigate ambiguity, resolve conflicts, and manage resistance effectively.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work seamlessly with internal leaders and departments to ensure cross-functional success and value addition to the region.
Sales Processes: Develop and improve channel management processes and cross-selling opportunities.
Internal Partnerships: Build strong relationships with internal partners in Learning & Development, Operations, Product Development, and Marketing.
Performance Tracking: Track, forecast, and analyze sales results to identify trends and opportunities.
Sales Promotions: Collaborate with marketing and sales operations on sales promotions and campaigns to boost revenue and profitability.
Team Coaching: Monitor and coach sales staff to enhance their techniques and results.
Product Development Input: Provide sales insights for new product development and ensure effective product launches.
Competitor Analysis: Understand competitors' products, strategies, and market positioning.
Channel Improvement: Continuously improve the various channels to market.
Team Development: Recruit, hire, train, and develop the sales team to enhance organizational capabilities.
Sales Targets: Develop aligned annual sales targets with sales and segment leadership.
Pipeline Management: Ensure optimal conversion of inside sales efforts into actual revenue.
Performance Reviews: Conduct regular business performance reviews and participate in progress meetings with regional sales leadership.
Sales Processes & Metrics: Develop seamless sales processes and metrics, supported by Salesforce.com.
RequiredWhat We Look For:
Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, or Fire Protection Engineering. A Master's degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field is preferred.
10-15 years of successful sales management experience, driving significant revenue across a remote sales organization, ideally in the fire protection or detection industry.
Proven track record of accomplishments in sales, driving profitable business growth.
Experience in developing and motivating a diverse team in sales planning, negotiation, and customer pursuit.
Strong interpersonal skills, maturity, and good judgment, with the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of individuals.
Proven experience in negotiating with large customers and managing both long and short sales cycles.
PreferredMaster's degree and Lean/Six Sigma certification.
High energy, self-starter with a high level of personal accountability.
Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
Team player who encourages collaboration globally.
Strong influence and leadership skills with the ability to work effectively in a matrix structure.
Excellent presentation and communication skills, both verbal and written.
Proficiency with MS Office, particularly PowerPoint and Excel.
Technical/engineering background in Fire Protection and Detection is desirable.
