We're seeking a Property Underwriting Specialist for the Midwest Zone, ideally based in Chicago.
About The RoleWe're on the lookout for a commercial property expert to join our team in the Midwest Zone. This role involves both new business production and renewal management, collaborating with brokers across the Midwest while assessing risks nationwide. Our Middle Market Property unit specializes in comprehensive property structures and focuses on industries such as Real Estate, Hospitality, Manufacturing, Healthcare, and Wholesale Distribution.
As an Underwriting Specialist, you'll directly underwrite, service, and grow a book of business, engaging with brokers to identify opportunities and collaborating with internal teams to ensure profitable growth.
Key Responsibilities

• Cultivate relationships with key trading partners and drive submission activity.
• Maintain profitability, growth, and retention of assigned book of business.
• Exceed new business production goals while adhering to authority and strategies.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders and brokers to retain key renewals and coordinate Risk Services & Claims Service plans.
• Develop and execute prospect pipelines with trading partners and explore cross-selling opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree.
• 5 years of Underwriting experience, preferably in Middle Market Property or Multiline background.
• Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills.
• Knowledge of current insurance marketplace conditions.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
