As a group therapist, you will work with groups to facilitate personal growth and healing through a mixture of experiential, skill based, and process groups. You will create a safe and supportive environment for clients to explore their emotions, beliefs, and behaviors, and help them develop healthier coping mechanisms and communication skills.
Responsibilities:
1. Conduct assessments to understand clients' needs, strengths, and goals.
2. Develop personalized treatment plans using techniques tailored to each client's preferences and therapeutic goals.
3. Facilitate group therapy sessions, guiding clients through activities to promote self-awareness, emotional expression, and interpersonal skills.
4. Provide psychoeducation to clients about mental health, coping strategies, and the therapeutic process.
5. Collaborate with other mental health professionals, such as psychiatrists, psychologists, and social workers, to coordinate comprehensive care for clients.
6. Maintain accurate and confidential client records, including progress notes and treatment plans.
7. Stay current with evidence-based treatment modalities and pursue continuing education opportunities to enhance therapeutic skills and knowledge.
8. Adhere to ethical guidelines and standards of practice in therapy, ensuring the safety and well-being of clients.
9. Participate in clinical supervision and consultation to receive feedback and support for professional growth.
Qualifications:
1. Master's or doctoral degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or a related field preferred
2. Licensure or certification as an LCSW (ACSW), LMFT (AMFT) or LPCC
3. Experience working in a clinical setting providing group therapy
4. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish rapport and build trust with clients from diverse backgrounds.
5. Excellent communication and listening skills, with the ability to empathize and validate clients' experiences.
6. Flexibility and creativity in adapting therapeutic interventions to meet the unique needs of each client.
7. Commitment to ongoing professional development and adherence to ethical standards of conduct in therapy practice.
