Gillette Children's is Hiring a Nursing House Supervisor- Evening (.7) Near Paul, MN

Evening House Supervisor. 0.7 FTE. Typical hours: 14-0030 on weekdays. Every 4th weekend requirement: Fri 11-2130. Sa/Su 09-2130.

Purpose of Position

This position exists to coordinate the delivery of high quality, safe, efficient, and effective care to hospitalized patients and their families. Incumbent in this position serves as a resource to staff members to maximize outcomes and meet the expectations and standards for care. Incumbent role models professional practice and assists others in interpretation and implementation of standards, policies and procedures. Incumbent coordinates resources between departments including outpatient departments as well as external agencies and provides support to problem solve concerns, complaints and/or process or system issues. Specific duties are determined by the work setting or patient population served; however, in all positions, serving patients with challenging and complex conditions requires a concentration of specialized staff able to work in
highly coordinated teams. We organize care around each patient’s condition which requires staff at multiple levels and across many departments to exhibit exceptional teamwork qualities including communicating efficiently and effectively and adopting the behaviors required for high functioning integrated teams.

Compensation and Benefit information

The hourly wage for this opportunity is $46.63 to $69.93, with a median salary of $58.28. Pay is dependent on several factors including relevant work experience and internal equity. Salary is just one component of the compensation package for employees. Core Responsibilities and Duties

  • Patient Care –– Utilizes leadership principles in mobilizing the patient care team to achieve positive patient outcomes.
    • Communicates real time patient-related nursing data and information to enhance active
      and informed decision making by patients, families, nurse colleagues, and other
      healthcare providers.
    • Monitors and holds staff and providers accountable for timely and accurate
      documentation of patient care.
    • Demonstrates and assists interdisciplinary team with adjustment in interactions, the
      delivery of care, and/or clinical techniques.
    • Uses systems thinking to influence care models around episodes of care using
      integration, problem solving, and coordination among interdisciplinary teams.
    •  Ensuring adequately trained nursing staff is available and properly assigned to provide
      direct patient care.
    • Prioritizing and implementing patient care during high census or capacity challenges.
  • Family centered care - Supervises and leads nursing care and health education reflecting specific patient, family, cultural and community needs.
    • Employs strategies to promote health in a safe environment.
    • Seeks opportunity to evaluate effectiveness of health education as culturally and developmentally appropriate.
  • Autonomous Practice – Exercises independent judgment that influences care and demonstrates understanding of potential clinical implications.
    • Supervises and delegates care based on the abilities and limitations of care personnel and patient acuity.
    • Generates, shares, and accepts new ideas and incorporates into own daily work.
    • Seeks information and generates optional solutions to perceived problems through interactive problem solving with individuals.
    • Collects, analyzes, and interprets data and presents information in contextual formats that clarifies significance of the data relative to patient care.
    •  Assumes a leadership role with influencing and monitoring the standards of patient care, including implementation of policies and procedures.
    •  Integrates high ethical standards and core values into everyday work activity.
    • Utilizes leadership, team building, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills to build
      partnerships.

Qualifications

Required
• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license through the MN Board of Nursing
• Documentation of completion of a professional nursing program (RN program) and a bachelor’s degree in nursing or other healthcare related field
• Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (exception: Telehealth RNs). If candidate holds valid CPR for through another acceptable organization (as determined by Gillette), candidate may be able to begin employment but must complete Basic Life Support through the American Heart Association within one month of employment.

Preferred
• Master’s degree in nursing or other healthcare related field
• Current PALS certification
• Nursing Specialty Certification

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Must be interested in working with people with short term or long-term disabilities that
begin in childhood
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills
• Physically able to work hours required and physically able to transport patients
• Demonstrated leadership experience
