Girl Scouts Heart of Michigan is Hiring a Cookie Product Program Specialist - Kalamazoo Near Kalamazoo, MI

Position Summary/Objective
The Product Program Specialist works closely with regional leadership, membership department, and the product program team to ensure a quality program with cookie and nut/magazine sales. This person will oversee the product program in the Kalamazoo Region and must travel to outlying areas to confirm that the Product Program experience is delivered throughout all areas of the jurisdiction.
Essential Functions
  • The position is located at the Kalamazoo Regional Center
  • Coordinate all aspects of the nut/magazine program and the Girl Scout cookie program to assure the sales remain a viable funding source for the council while increasing program value for girl membership and customer service to adults.
  • Assists team members with database management to ensure accuracy of reports and information being created and distributed for product sales.
  • Facilitate volunteer training and training material distribution at assigned sites including evening and weekend sessions.
  • Tracks and reports accurate sales figures for assigned region.
  • Inventory ordering and inventory control.
  • Function as a positive and cooperative member of the Product Program Team and council staff, sharing resources and information.
  • Have a willingness to accept new responsibilities and handle multiple projects while being a self-starter.
  • Must be able and have the initiative to work independently, multi-tasking and well with all levels of community members/volunteers/staff as needed.
  • Function as back-up associate for the Lansing Retail Shop. Fill-in, as needed, in handling retail support, including such things as customer assistance and order processing.
  • Computer literacy and technical knowledge of computer software programs such as Word, Publisher, PowerPoint, Excel and the internet.
  • Able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds frequently during magazines and Nuts/Cookie Sales.

Travel
This position requires up to 50% travel. Must have own transportation, valid driver’s license with a good record. The ability to travel council wide and within assigned jurisdiction. Frequent travel within the council to various meeting locations with staff and volunteers. Travel is primarily during the business day and evening hours.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related field
  • Knowledge of Girl Scout program highly desired
  • Prior non-profit experience preferred.
  • Product Sales experience preferred.
Work Schedule
  • This is a full-time non-exempt position and will work at least 40 hours per week.
  • Will work a variable schedule each week depending upon need.
  • Position requires candidates to work many evenings and weekends especially during peak product program periods of the fall and spring and periodically the remainder of the year.
Work Environment
Operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and a point-of-sale system. Will require repetitive movement/lifting of product during peak sales periods. Will work outdoors periodically in all types of weather conditions.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position is responsible for hiring and managing all seasonal staff in assigned jurisdiction for the Product Program department.
