Job DescriptionUnder the direction of the CFO, the Accountant will facilitate monthly close by reconciling the incoming revenue with the bank accounts, making sure that invoices are paid in a timely manner and employee reimbursements are recorded/paid according to procedures.
- Job Responsibilities:
- Oversee the banking activities including updating check signers, checks deposits, uploading ACH batches, updating guidelines, and maintaining a database of all bank accounts.
- Responsible for recording daily incoming payments, donations, fee revenues, retail transactions and working with the departments to ensure transactions are properly recorded and coded.
- Pay invoices by verifying transaction information, scheduling, preparing disbursements, and obtaining authorization of payments, and classifying/recording accounts payable data.
- Ensure monthly GET, and annual sales tax filings are completed accurately and timely.
- Maintain accounting ledgers by posting account transactions on MIP.
- Verify credit card spending and income by reconciling statements and transactions.
- Resolve account discrepancies by investigating documentation, issuing stop payments and adjustments.
- Maintains financial records by filing accounting documents digitally for audit purpose and tax filing and assist audit prep and 990 at year end.
- Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field preferred. 5-8 years of AR/AP accounting can be substituted.
ExperienceCompetencies and areas of expertise MUST include:
- Two or more years of bookkeeping or accounting experience with nonprofit accounting or a similar work environment preferred.
- Strong organization and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office. Must be proficient in Excel and formulas. Abila MIP Fund Accounting and Salesforce experience a plus.
