Girl Scouts of Northern California is Hiring a Web Manager Near Alameda, CA

Girl Scouts of Northern California is seeking a Web Manager with a robust technical background in web development and digital marketing. This role entails overseeing the functionality, light development, optimization, and maintenance of our web properties to enhance user experience, SEO, and content strategy. As part of the MarComm team, the Web Developer will collaborate closely with various departments, leveraging analytics to inform strategic decisions and improve our digital footprint.
Remote work and/or office expectations:

  • This hybrid position (Alameda or San Jose) is full-time exempt, 37.5 hours per week. More hours may be required during peak seasons.
  • This position requires being on-call if technical issues arise in the afternoon, evenings, and weekends.
  • May require travel through the assigned region to accomplish tasks and lead events.
The Web Manager will:
  • Oversee user experience (UX) and functionality to ensure Council websites are efficient, reliable, and user-friendly.
  • Maintain Knowledge Center, DAM, and Forms sites and collaborate with SMEs to ensure timely and accurate content updates.
  • Lead web projects and assist in content planning, optimize SEO for enhanced discoverability, and manage project timelines.
  • Assist in copywriting and sourcing creative assets in support of SEO and UX.
  • Utilize web analytics: Analyze data to make informed strategic content and positioning decisions.
  • Apply best practices: Implement standards in information architecture, content strategy, navigation, multimedia, SEO, and accessibility.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and work closely with IT, Learning & Development, Volunteer Support, and external web vendors for seamless system integration.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills required to be successful in this role, include, but are not limited to:
  • Technical Proficiency: Expertise in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and content management systems (CMS) such as WordPress or Drupal.
  • SEO Knowledge: In-depth understanding of search engine optimization techniques and best practices.
  • Web Analytics: Proficiency in using web analytics tools like Google Analytics to track and interpret website performance metrics.
  • Project Management: Strong project management skills to oversee web projects from inception to completion, including time management and multitasking abilities.
  • Content Strategy: Ability to develop and implement effective content strategies, including copywriting, copyediting, and sourcing creative assets.
  • User Experience (UX) Design: Knowledge of UX principles and practices to enhance user satisfaction and engagement.
  • Information Architecture: Skills in organizing and structuring website content for optimal navigation and accessibility.
  • Accessibility Standards: Understanding of web accessibility standards (such as WCAG) to ensure inclusive user experiences for all visitors.
Essential Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Web Development, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5 years in digital marketing or technology.
  • Expertise in Sharepoint, CMS (Adobe Experience Manager, Zendesk, WordPress) and web development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, jQuery).
  • Strong skills in responsive design, user experience, and accessibility principles.
  • Proficient in analyzing data to inform marketing strategies and ROI, with experience in Google Analytics, SEOmonitor, Moz, SEMRush.
  • Knowledgeable in CRM integrations, HTML, CSS, JavaScript coding, database structures, XML, and digital asset management tools.
  • Technical problem-solving abilities, familiarity with debugging tools, and experience with version control (e.g., Git).
Desired Qualifications:
  • Skills in conversion optimization, audience segmentation, A/B testing, and applying new marketing and technology trends.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality and innovative problem-solving.
  • Experience with marketing tools (e.g., Salesforce Marketing Cloud, MailChimp, Adobe Suite) and project management applications (e.g., Asana, AirTable).
  • Experience managing multilingual sites.
  • Familiarity with the Girl Scout mission and experience in volunteer training is beneficial.
Language Stipend: For bilingual employees, a language stipend based on proficiency in verbal and written communication is available, determined by demonstrated skills in one or both areas.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 lbs (boxes, materials, equipment)
  • Possess physical endurance including prolonged standing, bending, stooping and stretching
