DESCRIPTION: Long Term Sub for aOccupational Therapist needed

PURPOSE : The Occupational Therapist is a member of a multidisciplinary school team. Occupational therapists use their expertise to support academic and non-academic outcomes, facilitate fine motor, visual motor development and sensory motor performance; promote independence in activities of daily living and pre-vocational skills; improve functional skills through training, adaptations and use of specialized equipment. This position requires direct interaction with the students, as well as the development and implementation of educational plans with teachers, administrators, and parents.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Current license from the State of Illinois, Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR)
  2. Current certification from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT)
  3. Thorough knowledge of the philosophy, principles and practices of Occupational Therapy as it relates to school-based practice
  4. Knowledge of specialized equipment related to adaptive equipment, technology and positioning, and skills to use appropriately
  5. Must be physically able to provide therapy to students in grades EC-8
  6. Ability to travel within Glenview 34 district buildings as necessary
  7. Pediatric and special education experience preferred
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITES:
  1. Collaborate with educational team to develop and implement strategies and techniques to support student's educational success.
  2. Provide appropriate motor, sensory and functional assessments to assist in determining student need in the classroom or potential eligibility for special education.
  3. Participate on Student Service Teams to assist in identifying students who may require further support and/or assessment.
  4. Develop measurable school based goals based on student needs and input from educational team.
  5. Develop treatment plans, interventions and strategies to meet established goals, monitor progress towards these and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  6. Provide instruction and models for staff and students on the use of instructional routines, assistive devices, adaptations and accommodations.
  7. Interpret medical and academic reports for the purpose of providing information and/or ensuring that treatment/intervention plans are appropriate.
  8. Maintain files and/or records in accordance with Illinois Occupational Therapy Practice Act and Glenview 34 District policies.
  9. Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  10. As requested by the Executive Director of Student Services, provide professional development for staff as it relates to their ability to support student success.
  11. Provide direct and consultative occupational therapy services to meet established goals.
  12. Participate in school and district MTSS, SEL, and Nonviolent Crisis Interventions (NVCI) as needed. Attend required staff and district meetings.
  13. Research resources and methods to ensure best practices are utilized.
  14. Supervise and direct the work of assigned Occupational Therapy Students, Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs) and/or classroom aides for the purpose of providing guidance and ensuring that program objectives are achieved.
  15. Maintain confidentiality per FERPA and HIPAA regulations. Obtains necessary releases of information documents prior to exchanges with outside professionals.
  16. Maintain safe and clean environment. Protect students and staff by adhering to infection control policies and student health plans.
  17. Other responsibilities as assigned by the Executive Director of Student Services.
TERM & WORKING CONDITIONS:
Full time starting from approximately May 2, 2024 through the end of the school and resuming at the beginning of the 24-25 school year until approximately August 30, 2024

SALARY: Long term sub rate

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP: Reports to the Assistant Superintendent for Student Services or Designee
