The Opportunity As Senior Counsel II, you will be a key contributor to the product development process, advise clients on the impact of privacy laws as well as the Investment Company Act of 1940, and address other legal and compliance matters as assigned. Job Responsibilities • Provide advice and guidance to various internal customers on a diverse and complex range of legal issues, including privacy issues and the Investment Company Act of 1940. • Review company advertising, public disclosures, policies, and practices for legal compliance. • Contribute to formulating and implementing creative business-oriented strategies and solutions to mitigate legal exposure. • May provide or coordinate with outside counsel the provision of business-related legal services involved in complex matters related to administrative/legislative/regulatory, commercial contracts, contract review and negotiations, insurance, intellectual property, litigation, marketing and service agreements, privacy, and securities. • Participate in assessing internal audits and methods for monitoring to ensure compliance with company policy and regulatory requirements. • May represent Company before judicial or administrative bodies and submit regulatory filings. • Maintain currency and demonstrate proficiency in professional fields of expertise. Analyze proposed and existing regulatory and legislative changes and determines/communicates impact of changes to the company. • Mentoring new legal staff. • Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Juris Doctorate (JD) from an accredited law school. At least 10 years of post-bar experience. Must maintain membership in good standing with an appropriate state bar association. Ideal Qualifications Experience with annuity products, security laws, contract matters, litigation, and privacy laws. Member of the Ohio Bar Association.
