Summary:

The essential role of the National Account Manager position is that of an entrepreneur. Connect the needs of current and potential customers with The Company's technologies, capabilities and expertise while maximizing return on investment of resources. Clear communication both internally and externally will allow the organization to identify the best opportunities and how best to allocate resources in support of securing new business.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Annual sales budgeting
  • Tactical sales planning to meet and exceed Sales Budget
  • Prospecting new customers
  • prioritized prospecting list & qualify for pursuit
  • Provide customer overview/brief & mapping information in support of qualification
  • Customer Management
  • It is imperative to meet and exceed our customer’s expectations through leveraging The Company's technology while balancing against the limits of our capabilities
  • The Company's Sales owns the following functions with qualified customers:
  • Project brief acquisition & management
  • Succinctly and accurately characterize the technical scope, commercial opportunity and closing strategy in a written brief
  • Flavor creation
  • For customers which utilize in-house product development
  • Support their needs by providing a flavor library with support from our Applications Group
  • Regulatory documentation requests
  • Complaints & Troubleshooting
  • Pricing & contract negotiations
  • Customer support: Presentations | Demos | Cuttings/Tastings

  • Attends and participates in relevant tradeshows and supplier nights
  • Proficient with Sales Force, LinkedIn Navigator and Merlin software
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software
  • Understanding of food safety practices
  • Follows food safety and food defense procedures as instructed and required
  • Supports site Food Safety and Quality Policy
  • Perform other related duties and assignments as required
  • Follows food safety and food defense procedures, as instructed and required
  • Supports site Food Safety and Quality Policy, including the site Food Safety Culture
  • Attends all required Food Safety and Personal Safety Training

Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong communication skills both written and oral, including sufficient computer

proficiency to execute the -needs of the position

  • Ability to understand customer and industry needs, trends
  • Ability to develop relationships with current and prospective customers
  • Sales Force Experience or CRM system experience required
  • Attends and participates in relevant tradeshows and supplier nights
  • Self-motivated to find new business opportunities, yet disciplined to finish projects till their conclusions

Education/Experience:

  • BS/BA in Business or a technical field of study; Food Science a plus
  • Flavor Industry Sales experience a plus; MBA a plus
  • 10 years of custom food ingredient sales experience
