Responsibilities.

• Perform procedures related to sequencing research projects, including DNA extractions and sample shipments.
• Prepare samples for long-read and whole-genome sequencing.
• Store samples and maintains large sample databases in cloud storage systems.
• Present results to team in team meetings and to supervisor.
• Ensure that supplies and consumables are ready and on hand as necessary for maximum efficiency in the laboratory.
• Ensure that adequate clean inventory is available for immediate usage.
• Perform a variety of laboratory techniques and procedures.
• Order and maintain laboratory supplies, reagents and equipment.
• Assist in troubleshooting and calibrating various laboratory equipment and instruments.
• Perform experiments on samples according to protocols.
• Provide experimental progress updates on procedures performed in the laboratory.
• Assist in troubleshooting and calibrating various laboratory equipment and instruments.
• Provide technical help and expertise to lab members.
• Evaluate new types of experimental approaches/analyses and recommend changes to protocols.

Qualifications.

• Bachelor's degree in Biology or similar discipline
• Demonstrated hands-on experience with DNA extraction
• Proficiency with plating and pipetting
• Experience with Microsoft Suite, including PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook
