Job Description:

The Yard Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the yard. This position will be responsible for the supervision of yard employees, ensuring that all employees are performing their duties in a professional manner. The Yard Supervisor will also be responsible for ensuring that the yard is properly maintained and that vehicles are properly maintained. The person will also be responsible for ensuring that the yard is operated in a safe and professional manner.

Core Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Create/maintain/manage inbound and outbound equipment and material

2. Ensure outbound orders and returns are counted correctly

3. Hardware counts completed timely

4. Ensure all merchandise transfers are timely completed/counts are correct

5. Coordinate with other departments specifically, inside sales, rental desk, drivers, and management

6. Ensure safety and security of the facility - advise management of any issues

7. Ensure compliance to all Federal, State and Local safety guidelines

8. Control inventory levels - conduct counts, reconcile data and maintain base levels

9. Coach and discipline team as needed, fill in as needed

10. Develop/Maintain relationship with customers, suppliers and transporters

11. Inspect any tools, machinery or equipment and report to management

12. Fork Truck driving

13. Use of simple to complex material handling and machine operation duties

14. Warehouse experience required

Requirements:

• A minimum of 6 months experience in a supervisory capacity required;
• Strong communication skills required;
• Excellent customer service skills required;
• Ability to perform duties requiring frequent standing, lifting, bending, climbing, reaching, pushing, pulling and walking for an entire shift;
• Must be able to lift or carry weight up to 50 pounds without assistance;

Supervisory Responsibility

This position manages all employees of the department and is responsible for the performance management and training of the employees within that department.

Work Environment

This job operates in an indoor/outdoor warehouse. Lifting moderate to heavy equipment in various weather conditions.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, variable hours, 40 hours per week minimum with overtime required as needed.
