Job Description
Gold Coast Dermatology is seeking a friendly, reliable, efficient medical assistant to join our patient-centered practice.
Qualifications
· High school diploma or equivalent required
· Certified medical assistant degree preferred
· One (1) year of proven working experience as a dermatology medical assistant preferred
*Phlebotomy skills are a plus*
· Computer skills, including knowledge Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word) required
· Familiarity with practice management software and electronic medical records (EZDERM or similar) preferred
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills including proper grammar and spelling required
· Knowledge of basic medical terminology preferred
· Social perceptiveness and service-oriented personality
· Excellent time management, organizational and problem-solving skills
· Ability to multi-task and prioritize work in a busy, fast-paced environment
Note: While experience is preferred, we are willing to train quick learners with a strong work ethic
Responsibilities
· Maintain a professional appearance
· Manage workflow by rooming patients appropriately and in a timely manner
· Interview patients and document the medical history
· Take dictation and type notes in the electronic medical record
· Assist during medical examinations and procedures
· Develop and maintain a working knowledge of conditions treated, surgical and cosmetic procedures performed, and products sold at the practice
· Comfort patients before and during procedures
· Review before and after care instructions with patients
· Call to check on patients after procedures
· Relay normal/benign results to patients
· Take clear and consistent before and after photos of patients having cosmetic procedures
· Correspond with other doctors’ offices to obtain medical records and coordinate care
· Cover front desk duties as needed, including scheduling appointments, checking insurance eligibility and collecting payments
· Take detailed telephone messages, document in the EMR and send to the appropriate team member or physician
· Check and respond to emails and office text messages periodically throughout the day
· Maintain inventory and order supplies after approval from the physician or office manager
· Perform light general office cleaning
· Prepare and clean treatment rooms and medical instruments
· Maintain patient privacy at all times, taking care to follow HIPAA laws and to protect financial information
· Help with advertising, including social media posts, website updates and e-blasts
· Complete other tasks assigned to you by the physician or office manager on an as needed basis
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
