Who We Are
Golden Queen Mining Co., LLC (the “Company”) operates a gold and silver, open pit, heap leach operation on its Soledad Mountain property, located just outside the town of Mojave in Kern County in southern California. The Project uses conventional open pit mining methods and the cyanide heap leach and Merrill-Crowe processes to recover gold and silver from crushed, agglomerated ore.

Who You Are
You possess a solid understanding of payroll systems, procedures, and best practices, and have experience maintaining a confidential and professional workspace. You are skilled in using the Microsoft Office Suite and enjoy handling office tasks like filing, copying, scanning, and answering phones. As a self-motivated and reliable team member, you bring strong communication and interpersonal skills to the table.
This is a safety sensitive position. As the Payroll Clerk you report to the Human Resources Manager.
What You Do
- Support the Payroll Administrator with timecard entry and various payroll tasks.
- Ensure accurate and prompt data entry and record management.
- Help manage the bi-weekly payroll for both hourly and salaried employees.
- Assist with generating reports and handling annual audits as needed.
- Perform new hire data entry.
- Accurately scan and electronically file payroll-related documents (involves heavy scanning and filing).
- Respond to employee payroll inquiries.
- Research and apply company policies as well as federal and state regulations related to payroll processes.
- Experience in the mining industry is a plus but not required.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
What You Bring
- Strong understanding of payroll systems, procedures, and best practices.
- Experience with HRI and payroll systems is required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and PowerPoint is necessary.
- Prior office experience is required (phones, filing, copying, scanning, etc.).
- Familiarity with Paylocity is preferred.
- Experience with Time & Labor systems within HRI is a plus.
- Knowledge of the connections between payroll, HR, and accounting functions.
- Payroll certification (FPC, CPP, etc.) is a plus.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality is essential.
- Must be self-motivated and dependable.
- Excellent and accurate computer skills are required.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills are a must.
- A valid driver’s license is required.
- High school diploma or GED is required.
