Goodwill Industries Michiana is Hiring an IT Support Technician - South Bend - FT Near South Bend, IN

Job ObjectiveThe IT Support Technician is responsible for onsite technology maintenance and upgrades at all Goodwill Industries of Michiana, Inc. locations throughout Northwest Indiana. This support is provided by receiving requests for service assigned by other IT Staff members. The ideal candidate will have great troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail. Their goal will be to build and maintain updated and efficient computer systems and networks. They will be the on-site eyes and hands of the IT department. The position reports to the Technology Officer, who evaluates performance annually.
Essential Job Functions
  • Knows and understands the Goodwill Mission: Strengthen communities by empowering individuals and families through education, training and job placement.
  • Manage assigned ticket support requests and see them through to completion.
  • Prep, configure, test, and deploy computer equipment and related technology.
  • Be able to image and restore images from an imaging server.
  • Install and configure software and security appropriate for the end user.
  • Provide orientation and guidance to end users on how to operate new computer equipment and software.
  • Organize and schedule upgrades and maintenance while minimizing downtime for other users.
  • Support and troubleshoot incidents of basic complexity for local and remote users.
  • Provide on-site PC, laptop, tablet, and printer support.
  • Work with Vendors and/or other IT Members to resolve on-site technical issues.
  • Provide timely detailed notes on active support tickets.
  • Ensure end-user is provided regular status updates.
  • Keep, maintain, and update an inventory of technology equipment and photos of equipment rooms for each location.
  • Make sure offsite equipment is labelled or re-label appropriately while performing service calls.
  • Assist with technology moves and new office setups.
  • Be able to neatly run, terminate, and test a network cable.
  • Assist with receiving deliveries, unboxings, stock room management, removal of all packaging.
  • Update and maintain knowledge base with technical articles and standard operating procedures.
  • Assist the IT Helpdesk Team Lead on achieving departmental projects and goals.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by Technology Officer or IT Helpdesk Team Lead.
Required Skills/Abilities
  • IT related two-year degree or two years of an IT related support role and demonstrable ability.
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively.
  • Ability to take ownership of technology issues.
  • Ability to be self-directed and work independent of close supervision as well as work as a Team.
  • Strong planning, organizing and time management skills.
  • Excellent problem solving, analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Able to communicate highly technical information to both technical and non-technical users.
  • Ability to maintain a positive and professional demeanor with a customer service focus.
  • Ability to problem-solve and to interpret a variety of verbal and written instructions.
  • Good understanding of networking and network topology.
  • A solid understanding of recent Windows Desktop OSs.
  • Experience with cloud-based backup solutions such as OneDrive.
  • Ability to work well under the stress of meeting deadlines.
  • Must have a valid drivers license and reliable transportation.
  • Travel throughout Northern Indiana is required.
  • Some weekly in-office hours will be required.

Physical Requirements
  • Must have good eyesight, speech, and hearing.
  • Must be able to sit and stand for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to work in a normal office environment.
  • Light to medium physical exertion, routine bending, and lifting may be required.
  • Able to safely lift a minimum of 35 Lbs. regularly and 50 Lbs. on occasion.
