Goodwill Industries Michiana is Hiring a Maintenance Assistant - Western Headquarters - FT Near South Bend, IN
Job ObjectiveTo ensure the daily efficient operation of all mechanical equipment within the Plant and Stores. The Maintenance Assistant reports directly to the Director of Transportation, Facilities and Grounds, who evaluates performance annually.

- Knows and understands the Goodwill Mission: Strengthen communities by empowering individuals and families through education, training and job placement.
- Responsible for the proper repair and maintenance of all mechanical equipment for proper operation.
- Perform regular cleaning of major equipment.
- Perform needed work at any Goodwill location.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by Supervisor.
- Ability to work safely with electricity.
- Ability to work independent of close supervision.
- Ability to be responsible for the proper use of maintenance tools and company pick-up truck and for the proper return of same.
- Must have mechanical, electrical, plumbing and building construction knowledge and ability.
- Must have current and valid drivers license and be able to pass a routine physical and drug screen.
- All tools necessary for the proper repair and maintenance of Goodwill properties
- Ladders
- Forklift
- Company pickup truck
- Ability to safely climb ladders and work at heights and on roofs, etc.
- Ability to work in a light industrial plant and adjoining buildings.
- Ability to work in a retail environment.
- Ability to work with light industrial machinery and electrical equipment.
- Ability to work around textile dust.
