Description
SUMMARY
In general, the Senior HRIS Data Analyst in Human Resources will collect, compile, analyze HR data, metrics, and statistics, and apply this data to make recommendations related to recruitment, retention, and legal compliance.
The Senior HRIS Analyst partners with HR directors and their customers to analyze work process design and flow, improve processes and leverage the return on technological capabilities. The Senior HRIS Analyst builds project plans, ensures adherence to project schedules, maintains a systems orientation and can work effectively with peers to set technology priorities and conduct long-term planning. This position also serves as a technical point-of-contact for the assigned functional area and assists subject matter experts with ensuring data integrity, testing of system changes, report writing and analyzing data flows for process improvement opportunities. The Senior HRIS Analyst also supports HRIS upgrades, patches, testing and other technical projects as assigned.
Responsible for the analysis, development, and presentation of insights in support of improved decision making across the organization. Demonstrates exemplary skills in retrieving and analyzing data sets with millions of records via SQL, Excel and/or data visualization tools such as Tableau. Creates metrics and dashboards using a range of data sets. Possesses exemplary data visualization skills and has a knack for simplifying complex concepts into clear data outputs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES
  • Collects and compiles HR metrics and data from a variety of sources including the human resource information system (HRIS) and payroll outputs, management and employee surveys, exit interviews, employment records, government labor statistics, competitors' practices, and other sources.
  • Analyzes data and statistics for trends and patterns with attention to recruitment, hiring practices, motivation, turnover, and compliance with employment laws and regulations.
  • Prepares reports of data results, presenting and explaining findings to senior leadership.
  • Identifies and recommends reasonable short- and long-term goals, milestones, and benchmarks for key performance metrics.
  • Based on metrics and analysis, makes recommendations for policies and activities to improve the organizational culture including suggestions to attract and hire qualified candidates, to motivate and retain employees, to address staffing issues, and to maintain legal compliance.
  • May conduct or assist with conducting classification audits to ensure that jobs are properly classified as exempt or nonexempt.
  • Ensures compliance with data privacy regulations and best practices.
  • May assist HR leadership with staffing, recruiting, and departmental budgets.
  • May guide and/or assist with performance, benefit, and compensation review and evaluation processes.
  • Manages projects and process improvement, including applying change management experience to facilitate movement to new levels of quality.
  • Recommends process/customer service improvements, innovative solutions, policy changes and/or major variations from established policy, which must be approved by appropriate leadership prior to implementation.
  • Performs system maintenance, including assisting in the review, testing and implementation of HRMS system upgrades or patches. Collaborates with functional and technical staff to coordinate application of upgrade or fix. Maintains HRIS system. Documents process and results.
  • Generates reports/queries, including writing, maintaining and supporting a variety of reports or queries utilizing appropriate reporting tools. Assists in development of standard reports for ongoing customer needs. Helps maintain data integrity in systems by running queries and analyzing data.
  • Conducts training, including developing user procedures, guidelines and documentation. Trains clients on new processes/functionality. Trains new system users.
  • Maintains awareness of current trends in HRIS with a focus on product and service development, delivery and support, and applying key technologies. Examines trends in information systems training, materials and techniques. Through classes, reading, CBTs or other mechanisms, continuously increases both HR knowledge and HRIS application/tools knowledge.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS/COMPETENCIES
  • Understands and uses qualitative/quantitative measurement and data collection design principles.
  • Data visualization skills using Tableau or equivalent data visualization tool
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Thorough understanding of local, state, and federal laws involving employment, HR, and HR policies.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn the organization's HRIS, payroll, and similar employee management software.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in SQL and Excel
  • Understanding of Financial KPIs and P&L statement
  • Proficient understanding of statistics and development of KPIs to measure business performance
  • High degree of proficiency executing complex and large-scale data analyses across millions of records
  • Strong understanding of data warehousing and relational or columnar database structure
  • Proven experience delivering high quality results on tight timelines
  • Superior attention to detail and experience creating mechanisms to monitor data integrity
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Industrial Psychology, or related field required. At least three years of experience in related areas such as job classification and compensation, recruitment, selection, training, employee benefits, and/or equal opportunity compliance preferred.
Math Ability:
Level 4: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Computer Skills:
To perform this role successfully, an individual should have intermediate knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, TEAMS and Zoom.
